Description
How I make my horns is the number 1 question I get asked by far. It's pretty simple, but it's really hard to explain without pictures. If you use this tutorial, I'd love to see your awesome creations!
Edit: Wow. Okay, I'm just stunned. Thank you so much for all the support. I never thought I'd get a daily deviation in a million years. To come home from a funeral to this... words just can't describe.
Sadly I have no plans on making a tutorial for an entire narwhal or unicorn, but if you are interested in purchasing a narwhal plush, I carry them in my Etsy shop over here!
I should mention there are other uses for these horns besides stuffed animals, they make fun keychains and necklaces too and you can even hook them onto headbands for a costume. Someone even made the body of a worm using this method.
For those looking for tutorials on how to make an entire plush, here is a good basic plush tutorial: [link] (there are 4 parts to it by the same user), Here are some free plushie patterns: [link] , and this contains a bunch of links to different free patterns: [link]
Edit 2: Here's a quick mini tutorial on how I attach a horn to a plush

It is fleece, but you could make it with anything.
I get everything from Joann's fabric or my local fabric store.

How do you keep the string from slipping up or down after you wrap it? This makes it seem like there'd be naught keeping it from sliding but the pressure from wrapping.. Or maybe that's enough?

BeeZee-Art In reply to NinthTale [2012-09-27 01:32:17 +0000 UTC]
There isn't anything keeping it in place except the pressure. If you wrap it tightly enough, it doesn't slip. In fact, if I make a mistake I can't fix it most of the time without re-doing the spiral unless I take a needle and wiggle it underneath the thread. It's pretty secure.
