Description How I make my horns is the number 1 question I get asked by far. It's pretty simple, but it's really hard to explain without pictures.

If you use this tutorial, I'd love to see your awesome creations!

Edit: Wow. Okay, I'm just stunned. Thank you so much for all the support. I never thought I'd get a daily deviation in a million years. To come home from a funeral to this... words just can't describe.

Sadly I have no plans on making a tutorial for an entire narwhal or unicorn, but if you are interested in purchasing a narwhal plush, I carry them in my Etsy shop over here!

I should mention there are other uses for these horns besides stuffed animals, they make fun keychains and necklaces too and you can even hook them onto headbands for a costume. Someone even made the body of a worm using this method.

For those looking for tutorials on how to make an entire plush, here is a good basic plush tutorial: [link] (there are 4 parts to it by the same user), Here are some free plushie patterns: [link] , and this contains a bunch of links to different free patterns: [link]

Edit 2: Here's a quick mini tutorial on how I attach a horn to a plush

Question: Hoow do you attach it to the head?

You just sew it on. I use a ladder stitch and put it directly onto the head that is already finished. Some people cute a hole for it, stick it in, and then sew it from the back side of the fabric, but I don't like the way that looks.

[link] - Here's a tutorial on how to do the ladder stitch if you don't know. Only instead of doing it in a straight line, you do it around the horn.

Awesome!! Just before step 11 it cuts off....what can I also do?? I must know!

You can sew around the outside like a drawstring, pull it, then stick any stuffing left back into the horn and tie it off to be done!

I mean...the words that are there cut off. They say "Don't let the string go slack. If you want to, you can also" and that's it. Or do you mean that the next steps are optional?

BeeZee-Art In reply to PirateLotus-Stock [2012-07-19 22:53:27 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, the last steps are optional, sorry that's not very clear hah. Some people don't like to do that, they sew the edges directly to the plush doll, but I like the bottom finished so the horn is stuffed independently.

I was wondering about this, too. You could throw a "..." after "you can also". Then it might be a bit more clear that it refers to the next steps.

First fabric horn tutorial I've seen yet! And it is very easy to understand, too, especially w/the pictures. I was dreading having to figure out a horn when I get to that step in my plushies; they seem less intimidating now. Thank you very much!
