My entry for the Summer Pony Show over at #HARPG-Pony-Directory ! I originally started my entry as a digital piece, but once I saw my reference picture, I knew I had to try it traditionally!
The background was such a pain! Eugh and I am really not happy with the mountains...but I tried

The original is just graphite, but I added a teeny bit of colour with photoshop to make Dreamer look a bit more Fjord-like!

Stable: Rierwood Equestrian

Class: Intermediate Dressage

Movement: Collected Canter

Story:

Amy was even more excited than usual as the Riverwood Equestrian team made their way to the picturesque Romanian stables. It had taken a lot of persuasion from Amy to make everyone go out there just so she could show her little Fjord pony. Amy knew the team didn't take her pony's career as seriously as she did. They let Amy show Dreamer to please her. They didn't realise that this pony was Amy's first horse and she had never given up on her dream of showing him at Grand Prix level. But Amy wasn't stupid. She knew that it would take a lot of training and showing to even get near that! So naturally, she jumped at any chance to show her pony, especially shows that were just for ponies! They might stand a chance!

The pair trotted into the arena and started their test beautifully. They really were a lovely pair to watch - you could see how much they adored each other by the way they worked as a team. Striking up into collected canter, they were breathtaking against the background of mountains. "Good boy" Amy murmured under her breath as she felt Dreamer flex his neck and power through with his hindquarters. She heard him grunt in return and she knew then that they both tried their hardest for each other and their bond wasn't to be passed over just because Dreamer isn't a flashy 16hh warmblood!

The Riverwood Equestrian team smiled and shook their heads as they were watching on the sidelines. Maybe Amy and Dreamer deserved more recognition after all!
