I hope it does! Oh well anatomy is hard, but just saying the OC has a certain type of body even if you can't draw it right, makes a difference.

Hello! First of all, this is filled with win. Everyone should read this before creating their OC, even if they only have very minor tendencies to Sueify their characters. On almost every page I was all "yeaaaaaaah! damn right!" I did have to spend quite a while dissuading one of my RP players to have automail for his character, using every one of those explanations on your page and more. His character was already very cool, and didn't need a "prop" like automail to make him seem more awesome, and regardless, my main issue was: do you REALLY want to spend SIX MONTHS at the absolute minimum of game time IN REHAB?! DO YOU REALLY? In the end he agreed not to do it.
Anyway, yes, good stuff.
My only one slight issue with this is actually on the first page! Amestris is not exactly analogous to Germany. In fact, it's more analogous to central Europe as a whole. If you image that the central zone is similar to Germany, and that the East, West, South and North zone are where "Germany" has expanded out to, (the borders of Russia, the Middle East, etc.) you get a better idea of Amestris. Amestris is also far more culturally diverse than Germany - as you later go on to say in your page about different skin colours. I'm not sure we can say a "pure-blooded" Amestrian has blonde hair and blue eyes. In fact, the only major character who fits that description is Olivier Armstrong.
Also, the names thing. I am mostly opposed to people using Japanese names for their characters for the reason you mention. But, in the series, you do have Izumi Curtis, and Lt. Yoki and Gn. Hakuro, all of whom have Japanese names. The names also don't need to be of Germanic origin - as we know, Arakawa just uses her "Giant Book of European Names" for her characters, and some have French (Jean, Alphonse), English (Edward, Roy, Elizabeth), and also completely made-up (Winry) names.
I guess my point being, that these things involve a bit of common sense on behalf of the players/ creators. The FMA world is not perfectly analogous to a specific time or place in our history. It's a mish-mash, a fantasy. But a lot of people don't have common sense, and this is where your guide comes in very handy!

Ok, about the countries, as you say, it´s a fantasy-mix, but if we want to the people have an idea about Amestris (their Racism against the ishvalans that reminds a bit to the holocaust, the wars to conquer new territories, the relationship with the neighboring countries, the type of government, all these things between 1900 and 1920) we have to think about Germany, but we didn´t say that Amestris IS Germany, we are trying to the people take Germany just as reference. As we can understand Drachma is strongly inspired by Russia, and if you look Aerugo (in the game of FMA), the prince Claudio and princess Elena...these names are most from countries like Italy, Spain, etc.
I repeat, we didn´t say "Amestris IS".
Something to add, if you think about it carefully, Haruko is the japanese pronunciation of the surname Halk, if you know just a bit about japanese, you will note that. In the other hand, is very notable that Izumi (and Roy BTW) have some chinese/xingnese/japanese features, so it´s not strange in their cases to have a japanese name (about Izumi, her maiden name is Izumi Hannet, probably Xingnese mother and Amestrian father, you know...). But you can´t use names like "Rain", "shitamori", "neko" and silly things like.

Yeppers, I get the idea. It's a starting point. I understand that you don't want people to go overboard with Japanifying their names, just that it is currently existent in the manga!
I don't see how Rain is a Japanese name though.

Well thank you I'm glad you think so. An yeah it really is stupid that everybody takes these things as something that's gonna make a character "cooler".
Well, in fact... from what I know, it's both Germany and England, but mostly Germany, Aerugo would be like Italy, Creta is France,(then in the map you can see two other countries that could be the Spain and Portugal of that world) Drachma is Russia, Xing... well China...they in fact are NOT EXAAAACTLY the same thing, but they're based on those, so for practical purposes, Germany... let's not get people confused. That was actually said at some point... bout the pure blooded amestrians, I think Miles did. (Which would mean her family is too, plus Alex has blonde hair and blue eyes too... same with Catherine... and thei father... uhum <.<
As for names, these cases are very uncommon, and if you think about it, chances are this characters are not entirely Amestrian, also, many names are quite... universal, names are everywhere, having a French name doesn't mean you have to be French. Take my name for example, it's used where I live, it's used by the ritish, it's also used in Italy, Spain... etc. The name Winry DOES exist.... it's just a very old name.
It's certainly not, but as I said, can you imagine if we go and tell people "AMESTRIS IS A BIG MASH-UP OF CULTURES!!! DO AS YOU PLEASE! 8D" Lol no.

Ha ha yeah, exactly. Give them the guidelines, they're gonna break them anyway, so might as well make sure you give them some tight ones.

Yeah all of them, and we do see a lot of blonde people. It's like in real life, it's hard to find a pure blood *insert nationality* but there's always a stereotype.
Sad but true, and as you said... many lack common sense... so it's really better this way, whoever has a few neurons will notice these things. Just like how, even tho FMA is set in the 1900s there are some things you can get away with, clothing in FMA is not exactly like it was back then in real life, and this applies to their technology as well, having alchemy, chances are they are much more advanced in science than we were back then, and there's also automail... however, it's hard to tell what's ok and what's not for many, they just can't tell when it's too much.

Wow this helped me a lot. Well it made me make sure that my character was too extravagant anyway. I am always worried that my character is too dramatic or too unrealistic. This showed me that for the most part, I'm all good. Some stuff I need to fix but it's mainly minor. It made me so happy when you put the "And if you lose a limb it could only be a hand" because mine lost a hand. But I should really stop making FMA characters with automail. I have a question for you actually, do you know how transmutation circles work? Like for example Roy has the circle on his gloves so that obviously works. Mine has them on her finger tips and palms. Do you think that would work transmutation wise? I know you may have no idea but I have been asking a bit for this answer.

Finger tips and palms? he finger tips thing sounds a little crazy, but Kimblee has transmutation circles on his palms, so yes, that works.

Ok cool. Yeah I am pretty sure auto mail would be super painful to get so not EVERYONE can get auto mail. Only the ones with the most stamina/pain tolerance I guess. Ed sorta makes it look cool but it must suck to have to have.

this is great to see, the guide is awesome and as i went through it i was mentally checking off that my ocs did not do the mary-sue thing :3 i'm Pleased about that. This guide is helping those who do not understand how to be original and creative.
i think one of the first things i did when i was building my oc's was to find out where in the FMA time line they fitted and where my main OC grew up. it just adds to their depth.

It certainly does, makes the more believable and the place they come from makes a big difference. Like in real life, simple things like how Mexicans like me love spicy food but people in other places can't stand it, it may sound silly, but these are the little details that make a character human.

-¡has incluido los ojos de todas! *v* (espero que nadie nos los coja o que se copien de varios aspectos de los nuestros, ya que Lika ha sido la primera OC con ojos grises y precisamente elegimos ese color porque nadie había reparado en él, con lo que un "boom" de ojos grises nos quitaría carisma)
-Lika y Priss tiene airbags en el sujetador para protegerse en los combates.
-Ran fan enseña sque operarse el brazo para obtener un automail no es doloroso y que sólo sacrificas bolsitas de kechup para conseguirlo.
