Small and "insignificant" amidst the endless darkness, an Akira class Starship heads out to shed its light on the unknown.

This is a really old piece, but one of my favorite that I've done, so I revisited it to improve it just a bit.

This is a physical model that I photographed, masked out by hand in PowerPoint, lighted and dressed by hand, and composited into my own heavy modification of a NASA background and then processed painstakingly to give it an oil or watercolor feeling as traditional medium is one of my favorite forms of art to enjoy. My art technique is a celebration of the power of limits in art and done in homage of the traditional special effects techniques used on the original TV shows before 3D animation took over.
