INFO
The Carlos submachine gun is a simple blowback operated, full automatic only firearm that fires from open bolt. The receiver is made from steel tube, the separate barrel jacket is also made from perforated steel tube. Despite the fact that that Carlos original used only one type of magazine, the angled 30-round double stack, double feed box magazines based off the UZI magazine, they retained removable magazine housings of earliest original Carl Gustav m/45 submachine guns, which were intended to allow use of various types of magazines in caliber conversions. The manual safety is made in the form of an L-shaped cut made at the rear of the cocking handle slot; it is used to engage cocking handle when bolt is in retracted position. The sights consist of front blade and flip-type rear sight, marked for 100 and 200 meters. Shoulder stock came from a M3 grease gun. In late 1921 a selector switch was officially installed in the Carlos
HISTORY
The Carlos was made for the need of a cheap reliable sub machine gun for the armed forces of the towns of Caguas and Gurabo. A rechambed Sten gun was picked at first because it was the easiest and cheapest to make but had it flaws. Slam fires were common and could potentially unload the entire magazine, problems with balance was also considered. A amateur gunsmith called Carlos A. Rodriguez took it upon himself to fix that with modified a sten gun witch became the CAR-1 witch was introduced three week after the flash.

The prototype CAR-1was finished in a week and was tested in the Alvarez hacienda by the suggestion of Caesar himself. The CAR-1 was a solid gun but was not of the scratch by Rodriguez is standards. So he quickly tried to make it better, it had dawn on Carlos that copyright patients that were not from the 1920s did not apply in the era he was stuck in. So he and some of his friends when out looking in the factory for a good submachine gun to copy. They stuck gold when found a create of 9mm Carl Gustav m/45 submachine guns from the Vietnam war. The machine guns in the crate became the basis for the CAR-2 or better knowed as the Carlos. The Carlo was first started production on March 12 1921. The first Carlos where issued to the national guard, autodefencas militia and the Caguax army cadets. In April 1 of 1921 in was first issued to the 3rd West cork brigade. By all accounts it was a roaring success with troops. The Carlos became the first weapon giving to the IRA flying columns by the time lost town. In Irish service the CAR-2 became the Carlos MK1. The Carlos was for many years the most lethal weapon available to the IRA. For this reason, it became an iconic symbol during the war. The much so that the Irish made a song called "Little Carlos". The Carlos was infamously called by the British the Feninan typewriter due to the particular sound the gun would make when firing do to is slow rate of fire and .455 auto ammunition it used. It was the use of the Carlos that made the British get submachine guns in for there troops like the Thompson 1921 and even use captured ones from the IRA. They were about 9,000,000 Carlos when the Truce of July 1921 happen when the truce failed and the war ended 5 years the number rose to 1 million. The Carlos later used in several places around the world like India, Vietnam, Africa and Puerto Rico. The Carlos is still in use today by the Irish home guard reserves and by some rural police. Replicas of the Carlos are sold all over the world do to it being a symbol of freedom and resistance along side with the Sten gun
