Description
Hey guys here is a redesign i made of the Taranis MK1* as i did not like the first pistol i drew due to how unrealistic it would be in the setting. So here is the redesign.
Specifications
Type: semi auto pistol
Country of Origin: Republic of Ireland (city state of Caugax)
Introduction: 1921
Action: short recoil
Cartridge: .455 webley auto
Feed System: 7 round box magazine
Rate of Fire: 85 rounds/min semi-automatic
Range: 50 m (160 ft)
Origin
The Taranis Mk1* first came about when the time travelers found how expensive and time consuming producing the colt 1911 and the simplified version was. The first prototypes of the pistol were a blow black striker fired hybrid of a .45 ACP High point and a Glock made out of sheet metal and plastic but that was found to but impractical due to the limited amount of plastic and was unpopular with troops due to its snappy nature. It was back to the drawing board until a stroke of good luck occurred. When workers were staking stock of several boxes from locked room one of the workers dropped a box braking it open. Inside were six sheet metal colt 1911s.

At first they though they were some sort of German or Russian pistol until a they found the logo on box to be from general motors`s guide lamp division.Further inspection revealed tooling for the sheet metal guns. The guns were quickly tested, but at 2.4lbs were found to be to heavy to be practical. Quickly the town gunsmiths began to redesigning the pistol to be lighter using the few volkspistols in there possession as starting points. The result was the slide of the sheet metal 1911 on a modified Walther volkspistol frame with internals from a Star model P pistol. About 68,533 were made and received very good feedback by the time travelers and there allies. So the gun was officially adopted in the summer of 1921. The gun was made in such a way that it can use spare parts from its machined version and vice versa.

USE
The Taranis MK1* was predominantly used by the city state of Caugax and there IRA allides. They adopted it as its standard sidearm in the summer of 1921 along with the Webley revolver. It was one of the standard semi auto pistol in the guerrilla stater kit. The Taranis MK!* made from stamped steel parts with a magazine release from a colt 1911 and no grip safety or slide stop. Instead the weapon’s only safety was a rotating rear sight which acted as a firing pin safety. The stamped parts were parkerized and held together by pins while the barrel and barrel link were the only parts not stamped. The grip was made of a ironwood sawdust and resin mix called fakelite. The locking system and the barrel and barrel link is a identical copy of the Model 1911's. The pistol has a two-stage, single action trigger, but unlike that of the 1911 trigger, it pivots rather than slide. The spring housing system is integrated to the pistol frame rather than being a separate part. The hammer is locked by the manual hammer block safety, and most notably there is no grip safety. The pistol uses a copy of the single stack 7 shot magazine from the Colt 1911 in .455 auto.
The Taranis was also used is sometimes used by criminals modified to fire full auto by modifying the action and trigger group to allow for only full-automatic fire. But this is rare as it can be uncontrollable unlike it rival the tokarev TT 33 pistol.
The gun is considered one of the most reliable semi auto hand guns introduce by the time stranded townspeople to the 1920s. The IRA fell in love with the pistol when it was introduced in guerilla stater kits and the flying columns. The gun became one of the official side arms of the IRA in used by the Twelve Apostle and the bodyguards of Michael Collins during the war. After the war it became very poplar in the rest of Europe and the rest of the world. Being adopted by many countries. The Mk2 introduced in the 30s became more popular and widely knowed due to it double stack magazine. Both pistols had plenty of knock offs in many calibers made in Spain and Belgium. The Taranis MK1* pistol is still made in the town of Caugax and the rest of Ireland and exported to other countries as a real weapon and as a replica Gas/stater pistol and bb gun. About 1,330,000 pistols were made with copies still being made today.
I want to thank again menipa who helped me with info on the irish war of independence.
