i hear you brother... i hear you... sad but true... especially the abstract 3D thing is very distracting regarding the fact, that it doesn't really need any skill

Daily Fave = overrated. Who cares if everyone loves a piece if you're posting it just 'cause you know they will?

Exactly! favs should be a result of posting, not a reason for posting.

u should add one more way: to list all the ways how to make it into TOP

And you bet, I have more of this "Ways to get views/favs/DTF" coming. Oh yes.

blackzer0 In reply to rdx86 [2004-05-29 14:38:01 +0000 UTC]
bah. You can simply manip photos of two girls into a suggestively close distance. Preferrably with parted lips. That will add a more "erotic suspense" to the piece.
*sigh* guys are so gullible.

Good point, this is amusing too. I know what you mean about the community swayed towards certain styles. It's really difficult for writers/poets to get anybody to read their work and even more difficult to get any real feedback. It's really frustrating getting piles of 'I like this' comments rather than something constructive which what most of us want.

lol! So true!
I'll never forget the day I changed my settings for browsing DA from "Favourites" to "downloads" just to see if there was any difference. Isn't it amazing everyone clicks on the pairs of tits but then doesn't dare to fave them?
Oh, and you forgot #9: Take the pic of a famous RPG illustrator from Elfwwood and stick it in your gallery!

I particularly liked the one about abstract art. Fair enough it looks nice, but isn't abstract art about what lies beneath it, rather than it just being a whole heap of computer generated triangles with a tacky name like "Re-Emotionalised" or something...
Sorry if someone already has a piece called reemotionalised, it was the most generic name I could think of.
π: 0 β©: 1
blackzer0 In reply to jameslee [2004-02-11 14:13:55 +0000 UTC]
I love (and create) abstract art, and I don't really mind if it has no underlying meaning.
I was rather referring to the ease with which some of these things are sometimes made. No effort taken, and almost a random design. It's just not fair.
Of course, there are those who really do work on it with amazing results.
Thanks for pariticapting

the thing is dtf is the majority art. which sux because it can be really really crap and not much effort. But i guess the daily deviation is better in the way it actually gets effort and a short description with it, but some of the stuff isnt great.
π: 0 β©: 1
blackzer0 In reply to moongate [2004-02-09 14:17:58 +0000 UTC]
Exactly, I think the Daily Deviation is a much better idea than DTF. Also, many DDs make it to the DTF, which is good and fitting.
Recently the "browse Daily Deviations" option has been added, which I think is one of the best enhancements to the navigation on this site.

hmm, maybe that's the secret unconscious reason why everyone likes your work!
but but... then does it mean I'm gay?
by the way, this here "how to get a Fav" piece is the one who got the Daily Deviation, ironically enough... for the prose section... which nobody hardly ever notices.

Oh god, can I take you home with me? I'll even give you your own room and windup girl doll if that is what you prefer. I have no idea who you are but I've known you for a million years in your style, humor and approach to life. I am on your page.
We should have you sized and printed up for posters and perfume--I'm serious.
Marry me.
