Aaaand... this has nothing to do with my previous deviation (titled Sad Edward)! You know, besides the fact they're both fanart and have an Edward in them. I have such creativity with names right now...

This is Edward the Booble (Drontti Edvard in Finnish and Dronten Edvard in Swedish) from Tove Jansson's lovely Moomin-universe. He makes his most well-known appearance in "The Exploits of Moominpappa" (Muumipapan urotyöt), and is positively adorable. And for those who haven't read Tove Jansson's work: Go. Read it. Now. Noooooooow!

The Moomin-universe and characters have been a part of my childhood and my life for as long as I can remember. I watched the TV-show and my parents read at least some of the books for me and my brother. And a few years back I read the books by myself, and they are just as lovely as they were back then, if not more so.

Edward the Booble is the largest animal in the world, right next to his brother. Most of the boobles are grumpy but in the end they don't want to hurt anyone. They might accidentally step on someone, but they always pay the funeral bill. That was approximately what they say about Edward the Booble in the book. Lovely, isn't it?

I don't remember if Jansson ever drew a tail for Edward, but I wanted a tail for him so I took some reference from the TV-show as well. As a tribute to Jansson I tried to have a similar feel to the picture as her art has.

Done with black markers (0,5 mm, 0,1 mm, and a brush-tip) on a piece of passe-par-tout.
