Would you have any tips on how to do this with Fabric?

You could sew horsehair braid to some fabric and then follow this technique. Β Or apply really stiff interfacing to make it hold up like these materials, and then do this. Β Alternately, there are places online that will tell you how to do it the renaissance way, with a 2 liter bottle, a boatload of starch, and a tiny curling iron. Β
