Still very unfinished, but I wanted to upload something that I've been working on recently since school has started. This was done after finding out about the new contest at , which is to draw any of the canon SM characters as a superhero!! I love the concept of merging the two worlds, since Sailor Moon is a very distinctive super hero than the western ones that we are also familiar with; I've always wondered what she would've looked like if she had been Marvelized of DCfied for a different audience!Minako is usually my first senshi to try things out on, and I got this image of a flaming sexy hot Minako appearing on someone's windowsill. Something a little sassy, but very sleek, and feminine. I didn't want to stay too rigidly with her original design, but I really did want to keep her oranges and a bit of her skirt. I also wanted to work the love chain as an actual love chain, though it's not seen here (but kind of swiping around her). Also, her mask, I've always loved her Sailor V mask, it reminded me of a faint Catwoman sort of look to it.
Wow, sorry for the huge rant! All in all, this was a super fun piece to do, even though it's not completely finished yet. I'm still uncertain if I'm going to submit this particular piece to the contest, as I do still want to try drawing the other senshi too.

Never actually been a huge fan of Minako/Sailor Venus, but I do appreciate her loyalty to Usagi/Sailor Moon/Princess Serenity.

Very nice. I like the colours a lot.
The mask reminds me more of a Black Cat than a Catwoman though.
I think one thing is missing, aside from the secondary colour, and that might be a belt or the tiara for some sort of insignia. Like originally it was the same costume but different colours and different shoes. So, if they were all superheroey, what would you keep the same and what would you do differently.
Actually, at a second glance she reminds me of Firestar.

As for her belt, she will have the love chain wound around her waist as a belt. I haven't completely decided on what I wanted to keep consistent around the Senshis, but I did want to tailor them so that they really showed off what sort of personality they had, versus making them look like a team per se. I'm thinking of keeping the swim-suit like bodice on them all, but I'm still playing around with that (Usagi is the one I'm having the most trouble with).

Don't know the character, but this looks fantastic.....especially the hair, like it's in flames (and even further enhances the overall 'fiery' tone........the way I see it, that is )

I am absolutely in love with this! I agree with the mask completely, love that you're keeping that. I also agree with keeping the orange as it is her signature colour. I think though adding another colour, something like white or red, on her costume would make it a bit more western comic book hero. Besides Catwoman (that I can think of) most uniforms do have a secondary colour. Perhaps having it line the very deep v-neck (just a thought!)? Making the chain a real chain is brilliant, I'm excited to see how you draw that. Ah so excited! This is going to be amazing once it's finished!

I agree with you about the second color too - I was grappling between blue, red, or white, one of which I could figure out where to put (although inside the V is a really good idea!) without making it stick out too much. I might settle with red eventually, since she'll have the red bow in her hair as well.
All I can see now is Minako crushing people with her love chain, brutally. I think what I might do is leave this picture, and just draw another full picture of their entire outfits and weapons so everyone can see them fully!

No problem! I'd love to see a full body pic actually if you're going down that road. I just know it's more work as well. I hope you do a full set too of the five main senshi if you feel inspired/have time to do so!

I love this. I could really see this as a Marvel/DC work, especially with the attire and the mask. The great thing is her image. It comes off as clean and simple, but still recognizable. I've always imagined that heroes would have to have that one item that identifies them, but you can tell, "Ah, It's Minako!". Perhaps it's the rustic color. Well done.
