heh
apparently, everybody seems to desire what they *think* their work lacks the most...
You may possibly admire the 'technical' aspect of mine - "slick" lines, sequential dynamic, visal storytelling and so on - and I deeply admire fantastic proportions, movement frozen just in the *perfect* split-second considering the theme, gorgeous graphic softness and sheer expressiveness of strokes and brushes in yours.
'Expressive', yes....something which I've been neglecting for so long in favour of 'technical', that I honestly fear of I no longer having it with me.
Elementary, my dear blobble

I-I think your stuff is VERY expressive!!
All of your dynamic contrast establish stunning atmospheres, that I feel like I am completely caught up in that moment! Especially with that BW page I love so much, with Inferno screaming "FOR THE ROYALTY" - ...I could see the expression of pure battle-hungry determination, something I could never draw without making it look deranged ;_;/
T-Thank you so much!! I love talking with you, as you leave such eloquent and specific comments!!
I have no technical skill, something I must vastly improve on. ;-;

Ah, it's a different kind of 'expressive' i was talking about
My on-panel critters sure do express themselves, that's what I aim for
(and sshhhh - that "for the royalty" panel wasn't in the script, I added it myself as an 'introduction' of sorts to that scene)
...but I always try to draw them to the best of my abilities, NOT in the way *I* am feeling at the moment, and *that* is the 'expressive' I'm talking about, something which I'm becoming more and more aware.
The downside of concentrating all time and effort into sequentials, where an established visual 'standard' has to be upheld throughout the pages, and doing VERY little standalone work.
You, on the other hand, do differently - you may not notice it in the stuff you do, but the choice of colours and textures between each separate picture, as well as shapes of visible strokes, sure speak volumes to me..

Oh...wow! I had never really considered my work like that before...I'm still struggling to find a consistent style. I'm so scared that when I start doing sequential work that every frame will look different and it will look terrible. ;_; The word "standard" really scares me because I don't know if I can ever draw that consistently, although that's what I try to do everytime I draw.
Also, especially when I paint, I tend to do that when I'm very inspired or stressed, so I think that must show when I'm working...but I'm worried that it's my own expression my art is projecting, not the expression I'm trying to do for the character. T^T

Yup, that's what I was talking about....it kinda does show
You might want to 'keep' that, honestly, somehow adds much more value to each piece. For someone like me, that is.
...and as for sequentials, well....yes, finding a consistent style would be quite welcome.
But if you really want to learn from the true masters of that medium, like Moebius, find at least a dozen consistent styles

: O SO MANY!? How do they all become recognizable with one another?!
Does finding a consistent style just come with time as you slowly work out what you like to do with each piece? I'm starting to find out that my painting is developing a certain style, but I draw on paper very differently than how I paint on the computer...and even more different if I paint in real life!

It makes sense, yes - different mediums offer different possibilities and require different approaches, so you not behaving the same before each one is only logical
As for the other thing, I honestly don't know what to tell you there...My "work" is very far from what I'd like it to be, it's nothing more than a hobby. For which I have very little time, to boot.....so there's very little 'developing' as such. Pretty much everything is 'purposeful', not much time and room for experimenting just for the sake of it.
About different consistent styles, well...very few can achieve that, only true masters. Check out the dude I was talking about here: [link] and compare those pretty pictures.
He's like a chameleon, changing his drawing and painting style every time the story, genre and setting 'demand' it (in his mind, that is)
In my book, the nest comic-artist who has ever lived, without a second thought. And even though he's 75-ish these days, he's still fully active and still draws lineart at the speed of an average ink-jet printer

IT'S A HOBBY?!?!
You look like you do this professionally!!! You must be lightning fast!
Oh wow...that guy is incredible!! Are there other 'masters' like him as well, kind of like the masters of the renaissance that I could look up too??
OMG I have to find him if he ever goes to comic conventions!!! How does he do that without breaking his wrist?!

Omg, Thank you SO much!!! I love looking at different inking techniques, but there is so much art out that that its so hard to swallow all at once! Thank you very much!

Yup, a hobby.....I do something entirely different for living.
Moebius sure is incredible, like a GOD of all comic artists, words can't express how GREAT that dude is. In every possible aspect, in every single style he adopts.
Check out the books from the 'Incal Saga' for example, if you ever come across them (although if you're in the US, the local edition is utter crap - all the gorgeous French-school flat colours were re-done digitally for the US edition, with gradients, effects and $hit, plus all nudity is censored. Lameness galore. )
Others? Hmmm....dunno, I'm quite biased here
First, I've never been into superheroes, so I'm not particularly familiar with superhero-books artists. The art sure is fantastic in 90% of them, but it all looks kinda 'generic' to me, dunno (save for, like, (the great)Jack Kirby, Jim Lee and several others). Manga as well - except for several old masters (Tezuka, Nagai, Otomo...) it all kinda looks the same to me
There *are* comic artist whose style is something I find most interesting, mostly because of some unique stylistic quirk
This dude's pictures are most immersive: [link]
and this dude produces perhaps the BEST black&white I've ever seen: [link]
(google-image-search their names for further pictures )

I hope you also make some side money from the inking, because you're definitely good enough to!!
I've looked him up and he's amazing! He skill is so fluid...its like he can phase in and out of all sorts of different styles, but still keep so much of it that's his!
*giggles!* I suppose after a while all superhero art does look the same! I've yet to explore in detail all the great inkers in that world - there is just so many!
Thank you so much for showing these to me!! (Also, I deeply apologize for my prolonged reply, I've been so incredibly busy that I only come on here just check for new deviations and that's it. Thank you so much for being so patient!)

S'okay, I haven't been much online lately either...
Besides, this internet thing spoiled us a lot.
Not so long ago, people used to wait for weeks to get a reply to something they wrote. Living was much less intense.
And happier, I dare say...
