Ever since I've seen 's contest theme "Superheroes", a Marvelized/DC Western Superhero version of Sailor Moon has been constantly drifting on my mind. Initially I created a rough idea with Crescent Beam Warrior, which was a marvelized Sailor Venus:After I thought on it some more though, I ultimately came up with this design for Sailor Moon. I wanted something a little more mature for her, and I didn't want to keep all of her iconic colors for fear it would be too busy and unoriginal. So, I decided to give her a very white outfit, as though she were a shadowy extension of the moon!
It's a lot of fun to imagine what Sailor Moon would've been like if it had been drawn or written with a Batman sort of twist, or even a Spiderman twist. In my head I keep on thinking of a Micheal Bay Transformer version, with lots of action and amazing cgi graphics, with a darker storyline complete with war and military experiments. I think Westernized Sailor Moon, with its own twists, can be extremely interesting in its own way. For any of those who have thought similiarily (or not), I'd love to hear your thoughts and comments too!
Potential thought: If I were to create a fancomic based on this concept, would anyone like to read it?
Anyways, please enjoy my Western take on a wonderful anime! Once again, any concrit and comments / feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I'm gonna try to design Tuxedo mask, but you should make one too!
I'll probably do a scoop neck instead of turtle neck cause I hate turtle necks. And Boots are up in the air right now. I might go with ankle boots or the sock/heel "Boot" look. (Since real white boots are an arm&leg!)
I love the cape, skirt, and everything.
Do you have any idea what her weapon would be western? Or if she would just be similar in stature to Daredevil/Batman/Mockingbird with fighting skills but no 'super power'. (Even though she technically has a power)

Heehee, she still looks cheeky here, this does look like something that Sailor Moon would wear in the marvel universe, only the skirt could'v probably been navy with perhaps a red cape? I don't know, either way, you did a great job

I considered the red cape + navy blue skirt option for a bit, but then I was worried she'd look too much like Supergirl. *shot* After a while, all costume designs seem to have been done already

None of the pages are out yet, but when they will be posted (sometime after next week, when my finals are over), I'm planning to host them on various sites, not just on deviantart.
I haven't solidified whether or not I will do the outers just yet, but things might change. For now, definitely, we will be seeing all the inners

I like this costume. Looking at it, I keep trying to think up names like "Serene Moonlight" (yes, irony in a superheroic name!). "Crescent Moon" "Moonlight Warrior" "Princess Moonlight" and so on...I think I've been either a SM for too long or played City of Heroes for too long.....

I really do think a westerner style would be more dark (At least one family member would die off the bat) and she would probably develop a more sassy attitude.

I think this is the best redesign I've seen of Sailor Moon so far! It's really cute, and definitely gives off a great "superhero" feel to it. Awesome job!

I like this a lot, but I gotta admit, without the crescents, the brooch, and the odango hairstyle, I'd probably think this was a (thankfully less sexualized!) Power Girl. (reference: [link] )
However, you make this work REALLY well. I love how you put her colors in the belt, gloves, and boots.

That's really neat since I've never actually considered Power Girl as someone to refer too when I was thinking up a costume design for Sailor Moon. If anything, I was worried she'd look too much like Supergirl somehow! Perhaps in the future I'll have to alter and tweak around some more...

That is true, Power Girl is very much a badass hero. She, Super Girl, and WonderWoman are among my top favourites.

I love strong female super heroes. I'm actually REALLY mad over the Marvel reboot that gives Barbara Gordon her legs back. Because super heroes can't be bad-ass from a wheelchair, or anything. :/

You mean the Batman reboot? I hear it's amazing, from what my friends have been telling me from their readings / research online!
I quite like Oracle, but I missed her actual fighting action, I had always loved her as an excellent combat partner under Batman. ;_; I can't wait to see her with her legs back! When I read that part when the Joker shot her in the spine, you have no idea how profusely angry I got!!
Yay!! A lot of the ideas are still in the rough, but it'll be essentially Sailor Moon but with just some Western twists; a little less magic and a little more technology. Everyone's matured a bit more (Usagi will be 17 instead of 14) and I suppose the content will be a little more adult. Also, I intend to make the Shitennou a lot more important than they are in the anime, and possibly combine aspects of PGSM and their past life in there.
