Description
Purpose:• The main purpose of this extension is to display your current deviantART "message centre" items/counts in your statusbar (lower-right corner of the browser).
Current Version:
• The latest version is 0.9.1 as of 12/20/06.

Compatability Issues:
• Doesn't appear to work with ChromEdit.
To Install:
(1) Click the "download to desktop" button (alternatively, you can right click on the download link and choose to "Save Target As").
(2) Save the file as "deviantMessage.xpi".
(3) Once the download is complete, open the file in your browser (File -> Open File) and allow it to install itself.
(4) After installation, close Firefox.
(5) Reopen Firefox and go to "Tools -> Extensions", select deviantMessage and hit "Options" to set preferences.
Miscellaneous:
• If you encounter any problems please note me.
• If you use this plugin, please let me know what browser and version you're using.
• This works on the latest versions of Firefox, Mozilla and Netscape. It's been indicated that it works on Linux, Mac and PC.

Do you have a newer version that works with the newest version of Firefox? I accidentally updated to the newest version of Firefox, and now the deviantmessage extension doesn't work.

This works for the newest version of firefox. Make sure you right click on the "download" link, save it to your desktop or something. Then in firefox, click file and then open file and then double click where you save the extension, restart firefox and you're good to go.

Thank you very much. I've always had the older version of firefox, and then the firefox update all of a sudden updated me to the brand new version and the deviant message center wasn't working. I guess I just had to reinstall it. But thanks for your help.

alirght i got it to work and EVERYTHING im having one problem though you said to go to tools then extections
well i have to latest version of firefox and i don't have that extections option so
how would i get to the preferance setting ?

I seem to get notified about the same messages over and over again.
At one point I "Cleared Notifications" but they still come up as new after a while.
I use FF 2.0.0.1 on WinXP

Agreed, now it's not working with 2.0.0.1. You really should set the max version to something higher, like 2.4 or 2.9 or something, since Firefox doesn't seem like it's gonna change anything soon that would legitimately break deviantMessage.
