Season 5 AU (contains spoilers of previous seasons):

Kate comes back to Beacon Hills to finish the work and sets fire to Derek's condo while he's locked inside. Stiles sees the fire and makes it there in time to shout, waking up Derek who had passed out because of the fumes but finds enough strengh in him to break a window to escape. Stiles helps him get up, and Derek watches his last possession burn, dizzy and resigned. Stiles bombards him with questions:
"Are you hurt?"
"Do you need a ride to Deaton's?"
"Where was Breaden?"
Derek tries to reassure Stiles, telling him he's alright and Breaden was not there, but looking for the Desert Wolf in texas. The look on Stiles's face make him understand that was not how the question was meant.
"Hunting when you need protection? That's a hell of a girlfriend you've got there! You really choose them with care, huh?"
Derek just shrugs, but Stiles insists: "The only imaginable advantage of dating a professional killer is that she could use her skills to protect you. But she didn't. She's not there! You could have died! She doesn't deserve you!"
Derek lifts his eyes up and asks, unsure: "Do you really mean that?"
For a second, Stiles looks like he's about to punch him but instead he steps closer to Derek and rests his hands close to his neck and sighs: "Yes, of course I do. You're worth better. Now please let me take you to Deaton. You look like you could use some medical attention."
In the way to the animal clinic, after a few minutes of quiet, Derek decides to break the silence:
"The cuts are already closed. I'm fine. I'm more worried of where I'm gonna stay. Do you think Scott would let me crash for the night? I would go to the former train station, but that's probably where Kate would look for me if she knows I'm alive."
Stiles makes a face and confesses:
"Scott is seriously short on money and has an unstable new pack member to babysit. I'm not sure he'd be overjoyed about one more werewolf mouth to feed. He could say yes, maybe, but reluctantly. You'll be safer in the sheriff's home. Deaton reinforced our magical security recently just in case Kate or another psycho made an appearance. And the Argent's code has a strict "no human casualty" policy, so... It's possible she wouldn't try to attack me."

PS: This AU (where Derek spends the whole season living with Stiles untill he realizes there is more to them than friendship) holds a special place in my heart, cause it would be so natural! Let them be in the same room long enough, it WILL happen. All reasonable TW fans Sterek shippers know that.
