Description Starcraft 2: Protoss Twilight Council
Modeled by Phill Gonzales, final texture pass by Ted Park!

The Protoss Twilight Council was intially built as a placeholder tech building to visually signify the tech path chosen by a Protoss player. The three diamonds had glyphs which would appear depicting the robotic, high templar, or starport high-end technology. The role overlapped the buildings which already signified those technology unlocks (the Starport, Robotics Faciliy, and Templar Archives) so the function was changed so the buiding unlocks unit abilities instead.

As one of the later Protoss buildngs we developed, the Twilight Council features more white surface detail to break up the prodominant gold/teamcolor treatment we'd been using on the other Protoss structures.

Was there a relation between the Twilight Council and the Citadel of Adun in SC1? I always viewed this as it's replacement, but I never though it was a placeholder.

The Twilight Council went through many iterations, at this point it's basically a placeholder building that made it to the finish line. The Citadel of Adun was in the game for a short time in a very rough state, but the shape was strange and the team wanted to try something new.
