Description 2015 edit 2: Here are the official sizes, as they appeared in the StarCraft: Field Manual!

2015 edit: This was my version of Starcraft to Scale from Heart of the Swarm. Some of the sizes and artwork are out of date, and have been replaced with new, Blizzard-approved ones for the version of the scale charts that will appear in the Starcraft Field Manual.

Downloading the full size is a must!

See the Terran chart here , Zerg chart here . As I said there, I'm splitting these up so that the image sizes are more manageable, 3 manageable images of ~3MB instead of one at 10.

There aren't actually many changes from last year's version of the Protoss units, the Purifier (from the SC2 alpha) and a few heroes are all that's new, since Heart of the Swarm basically had nothing Protoss to add (I still haven't done a Preserver, but, even when I do, it won't be exciting, just another Protoss standing there). More Protoss units, please! I am adding more capital ships, thoughβ€” the Gantrithor and Koramund both have their own drawings now...

You wouldn't happen to know the dimensions of Cybros. It looks bigger than the spear and that was over 70 km long. Also it would be cool if you could draw it. Though obviously not to scale.Β

I agree it looks bigger than the Spear of Adunβ€” but I'm not sure conceptually if it should be. Cybros was built by the Protoss originally, as a base/weapons research space station. It's clearly meant to be big and death-star like, but would their secret weapons base really be bigger than one of the 3 arkships that were supposed to ensure the survival of the entire Protoss species?

But yeah I'd say it's denser and more solidly city-like, in contrast to so much of the Spear of Adun being empty space. And I guess it's also possible the Purifiers expanded it beyond its original size, maybe? I can't give you even a ballpark estimate for its size, sorry.

Honestly just looking at the few pictures and cinematic scenes we get of Cybros I would put its disc section between 300km and 500km in diameter. Certainly large moon sized and the only protoss creation that can one shot a planet, not even the spear can do that. Finally the spear in thousands of years old by protoss reckoning and still pretty advanced. While Cybros is probably bleeding edge for the protoss before Aiur fell, I don't think the protoss would have a problem making things that big other than the fact that it takes a lot of resources and time. Not to mention a lot of people to pilot properly.

Still I would like to see you draw it if only for the fact that there are so few good pictures of Cybros, in its base state or in its cannon state.Β

Maybe somedayβ€” also for what it's worth, Endion is itself just a moon in orbit around a planet (again like Endor's forest moon in Star Wars), and Cybros just purifies the surface, doesn't destroy it.

It may be a moon but isn't it around a gas giant, the earth could have been a moon around a gas giant and been the same size and weight. And while it ONLY scours the surface of all life it would still take multiple motherships and carriers over a longer period of time to have the same effect.

Seeing the opening cutscene of LotV, are you going to increase the size of the Archon in the new version?

I will get back to you with the answer in a month when the Field Manual version of the chart is out, hah.

Hah, after I get my hardcopy of the Field Manual I'll see about putting new versions up here. Don't worry, Starcraft chart-content will be returning!

I think it makes sense if the Protoss never faced any serious space-battle threats before the events of SC1. Presumably the Protoss had had wars against other species before, but if their shield technology was so good that they didn't really feel threatened in their carriers I could see them not bothering. They only heavily armed Scouts with missiles and blasters because they would be operating alone, maybe they figured no one would even try attacking a fleet of carriers, and just used them for orbital bombardment. But, that's all stuff I just made up.

I think you may be mistaken on the sizes of drgoons and Stalkers (which are based off dragoons), since cinematics from SC1 show dragoons as being quite large, several times larger than a human (or Protoss)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

xiaorobear In reply to xSamiamrg7x [2014-09-18 12:45:27 +0000 UTC]

It is possible. I think in the years leading up through SC2 though, Blizzard has wanted them to be smaller than you think. This concept art for example, shows that a Protoss torso fills up the top section of the immortal, and the bottom of the immortal's basically just a dragoon, so they can't be that large. And then this one shows Stalkers as being quite small compared to a marine.

Of course, if these guys show up in any new LotV cinematics or in high-detail campaign models, which I'm really hoping for, then those sizes will supersede the concept art.

missing the mothership core Apart from that, VERY cool!! Β

xiaorobear In reply to SpaceMunk [2014-06-12 15:11:12 +0000 UTC]

I had it in an older version of the chart that you can see here, Β but after I released that version a lot of people argued that, since the mothership is so huge, and the mothership core should be an important part of it, the core itself shouldn't be so tiny in comparison. So, for now I'm just gonna have it on the next update of the capital ships chart.
