Description This is one of several Kanohi masks whose shapes were originally made in official Bionicle art but their powers were unestablished. Swert of biosector01 and I came up with powers to use those shapes for the Aethion Expanded Multiverse, and Greg Farshtey canonized them as the powers for those mask shapes. Note that my art shown here is not canon. Many of these masks were only partially shown or were otherwise unclear; the sketch is meant to theorize what the rest of the mask looks like, and also to portray the EM version.

Official power, as defined on biosector01: "The Mask of Adaptation is a Kanohi that automatically adapts its user's body to their surroundings. This includes combat situations, local environments, and current weather conditions. The mask is always on at a low level and sensing the nearby environment, and will alter them immediately if it senses a need for change. The mask's power returns to a low level after changing the wearer. However, if the mask is knocked off while the user is altered, then they are permanently stuck in that form."

Bio from the 100-page Aethion guide PDF: "Automatically adjusts your body to handle any and all weather or environmental conditions. The power is always on at a low level, sensing the environment. If it senses you need to change, the power mutates you near-immediately. The mutation is "permanent" until/unless you are mutated back, so the power goes back down to a low level after mutating you and you don't have to worry about losing focus on the mask, yet if it is knocked off, you're stuck like that. Based on the Kraata power."

This power was already canon for Kraata/Rahkshi/Makuta, just not as a mask or for that mask shape. (The matchup was inspired by the shape's similarity to a Kraata.) It is also similar to the 2008 Adaptive Armor the Toa Nuva were given, but that version only altered the armor itself, not the wearer's body.
