A lot of Avatar fans have a rather intense dislike of Maiko...in fact, I don't think I've seen another couple take so much heat! So, using my patented Booter Logic, I decided to delve into the reasons WHY(constant face sucking aside). However, my logic must have had an off day, judging from the grade it got. :/But ya gotta admit, guys who act like Mai DO get a love of love. Which is maybe why MAO is a good idea...[link]
Now, before you jump down my throat with Reasons Why Booter Is Wrong And Ignorant For Making This, let me just nip that in the bud. I am not promoting ANY sort of shipping, and this thing is a SPOOF. So if you're actually looking for a well-researched and thought out debate starter, look somewhere else.

See, I hated Maiko until this one episode recently... (the one where he goes to that war meeting).
But damn it, the girl was trying. And they both seem to be good for each other, even if Mai gets of my nerves.

Actually my complaint is that she did end up with Zuzu.

I don't hate the character, just the pairing, these two are way rtoo alike, it makes for a boring relationship. I like contrasting personalities in couples, every couple in my family have a love/hate relationship and their personalities are very different, yet they all love eachother very much and have stayed together for years and more to come.
Not only that, but couples who've I've seen as very alike in personality never seem to stick. They always end up breaking up.
Conclusion, Mai needs an opposite and so does Zuko, they're way too alike to be together.

I always thought it was because most of the complainers are Zuko fangirls and are jealous of her. Then, of coarse there are the Zutara fans. Most of these haters are probably female and girls like certain personalities with certain genders.
I personally don't like Mai, but I don't like Azula or Ty Lee either. I don't dislike them, just respect them. I respect Maiko as a canon ship but don't like it. Like you stated here, Mai and Zuko are very much alike, making them a boring pairing. (I'm a sucker for contrasting personalities.) Not everyone hates her.

lol Some good points. Its wierd, I love both Zuko and Mai, but I dislike them as a couple. It has nothing to do with the fact that she's not Zuko's gay lover or anything, its just I find them to be very boring and dull together. Apart I think they're great, but as a couple they just bring out the worst in each other.
