A lot of Avatar fans have a rather intense dislike of Maiko...in fact, I don't think I've seen another couple take so much heat! So, using my patented Booter Logic, I decided to delve into the reasons WHY(constant face sucking aside). However, my logic must have had an off day, judging from the grade it got. :/But ya gotta admit, guys who act like Mai DO get a love of love. Which is maybe why MAO is a good idea...[link]
Now, before you jump down my throat with Reasons Why Booter Is Wrong And Ignorant For Making This, let me just nip that in the bud. I am not promoting ANY sort of shipping, and this thing is a SPOOF. So if you're actually looking for a well-researched and thought out debate starter, look somewhere else.

Yes! There's fandom hate for Mai because she's the only canon girlfriend that Zuko has had. Everyone knows that any Zuko fangirl wants Zuko to be theirs, and theirs alone. It's popped up with every single possible romantic relationship he's been in.
"OMG we hate Song!"

"OMG we hate Mai!"

LOL, ILU. Unfortunately there are a lot of people who fall into this line of logic--maybe you didn't fail, just them.
The sheer number of people with that line of thinking make people like me, whose disagreement with it has very little to do with shipping, get lumped in with the majority without necessarily even being heard.

Okay, seriously...I can't stop laughing about this. I just...gah, have to keep looking at it! XD Mai's expression just makes the whole thing super-amusing, somehow. I guess it's because it gives the impression that she's all "what the heck is going on here?" throughout the page....
I guess whoever graded this was a female. And wasn't happy about fandom hate being made equal with her.
Zuko's face is amusing, too, but it's not as frequent as Mai's.

Meh/ The one reason I distrust Maiko is because I think Azula set it up. I'm waiting to see what happens. In some respects they do make a cute pairing, and it's nice to see Zuko get some. The one thing I distrust about it is the Azula factor.

A clean and streamlined logical train of thought indeed. In fact, there are many formulas that swap their output from EXTREME FANDOM HATE to <3 by the simple substitution of a O-> for a +-O. Unfortunate, really, that.
Honestly, Mai needs more love. And while it's true enough that she's not very good at all for Zuko, it's just as true that he's not very good at all for her. She's been downright sugarqueen lobotomized since she started dating him--I miss snappy apathetic old Mai quite sorely. (Though, you're right, the constant up-against-the-lockers-in-tenth-grade making out and awful dialogue hasn't helped their fandom reputation much.)

i had no idea why or how these two were set to be a couple which irked me even more. The only links i had were Zuko alone and return to Ohmashu (sp) , and people say there arnt many hints for Zutara *rollseyes* (no i havnt read the magazines, no i dont live in the USA) I dont like this couple, end of, thats not to say i hate the fans and anythin linked with it okay?

Thank you so much for clearing that up! It's terribly true that men (especially ones in Yaoi situations, bet it OOC or not) are adored by their fans (mostly yaoi loving women). So I agree that if Mai was a man their fan base would triple. Pure logic wins again! ^^

I don't agree with you people who claim fangirls only dislike Maiko because they are Zuko fangirls and only want Zuko for themselves; I don't like Maiko- and the reason is not because they are the two most annoying characters in season three- but because their love is illogical and dull as a blank gray canvas.

Lmao, I like the way you think. I agree with the fact that most sarcastic/cold female characters are despised while sarcastic/cold male characters are adored. Honestly, what gives?
