Description
Large project 3 of 3 that had taken over my free time.European 4-in-1 in 18swg 5/32" ID machine cut bright aluminum with a few 20swg 1/8" rings to smooth out the step downs in width and some pieces of 16swg stainless steel to help build the knot and attach the neckband. It closes with a stainless steel tube clasp in the back.
I wore this to my (ex) girlfriend's senior prom. By the end of the cocktail hour, 19 people had walked up and touched it. By the end of the night the count was somewhere around 30. I got a lot of compliments....and stupid questions...
Made in a week...a lot of late nights...
I am open to replicating this piece (I can inlay simple designs in various colors if you want). Due to the time required, cost would be about $250.

This is awsome! How did you make the knot? I have been thinking about making one myself, but can't figure out the knot.

I have to ask.
-this will probably be another dumb question to you XD-
Is the "knot" separate from the actual tie itself and just chained around to give it the look?
Or is it actually just more of the tie itself and just connected is some way i cant see? XDDD
still all and all i REALLY cool make
i want to make one myself now XDDD

It's a fake knot. The knot, neckband, and main part are seperate and are connected by some steel parts that are hidden inside the knot. It's possible to make a tie that you can really tie, but the rings have to be smaller and the knot ends up very bulky.

Do you have closeup pictures of the back of the "knot" and the attachments for the neckpiece? I've thought of making one for myself.

I'd like to see that as well. I've made one myself up to the level of the knot, but never gotten around to sussing that part out.

Love it!
I get those stupid questions with my belt, and sometimes people play with the end of it (usually my friends, most other people are polite enough not to walk up to a random chick and play with the belt she's wearing)
I like the way end of it is pointed, I did that on my belt too
Great work

Sorry, not planning on making more unless by special request. Due to the vast amount of time it takes to construct, price tag would be somewhere around $200, possibly a bit more. Also, being a college student I am terribly short on time and I couldn't guarantee any real time frame to finish it in.

But i personally think it'd be cooler with a more triangle top rather then a more rectangular shape =/ no offense.

6.7oz (188grams) Not the lightest tie ever made but it would have been about three times that if I made it out of steel....It feels kinda heavy when it first goes on but you adjust very fast.

Dumb questions...mostly "Did you make that?" "So, did you put each ring on by itself?" and my favorite "is it bulletproof" (Which is isn't...in fact it would just add shrapnel damage on top of the fact that I got shot)
And I'm rather odd and comfortable with that, so it suits me I suppose.

Nice! Euro seems to change widths a lot more smoothly than DS, or maybe it's the rings being a bit smaller. I think the biggest difference in design between yours and mine (besides weave of course) is the clasp style, I've got doubled unit chain and a lobster style hook on mine so it will fit other necks, do you have a problem at all with it fitting?
Now you know what happens every time I wear mine, with the people trying to play with it.

Well, outside of wearing it with a button-up collared shirt you could just throw it over a t-shirt for humor's sake, in which case you don't want it so snug and it looks fine kind of loose. To sit properly for a collared shirt, it needed to be adjusted by removing or adding some rings. Ideally, I would have a little belt buckle type clasp in the back so if I lose a lot (or gain a lot) of weight or someone else wants to wear it, I don't need to get out the pliers.
I don't know if it goes this way with your DS, but the weave is really slinky and is a good dense euro in 18532, so everyone goes "Whoa...that feels awesome *grabs person next to them* feel it!"
