Since I get repeatedly asked about how I make pony sprites, I created this simple step-by-step tutorial for making a basic trotting sprite.
This is the first time I made a tutorial and I may not be very good at explaining things, but I still hope that you will find this useful.

*facedesk* GIMP is not working out for me, the color selection pretty much turns all my blues into browns if they're too dark or too bright, i can't even recolor a sprite, let alone make a model for it, if anyone here could help me with wrestling GIMP, it would be appreciated ;~;

I'm pretty sure I had the same problem at first. Try clicking "image" and scrolling over "mode". If it's set to "indexed", change it to "RGB" and that should fix it.

I think you can also create animated gifs with Gimp, but I have no experience there.

You mean the animation? There must be settings for how long you want each frame to appear, depending on the program you use.

idk, i think it was about 100 milliseconds per frame

Well, the usual framerate for most Desktop Ponies is 4/100 seconds per frame.

on my most recent pony, i did 50 milliseconds and it worked

depending on how fast you want it, my snapion (in my gallery) is 100 milliseconds, oor 1/10 second.
telchine, moves at 50 milliseconds, or 1/50 second :/ if you can figure out how to input that, that's the one you should go for

Hmm, that depends on the amount of detail involved. I never timed it, but maybe an hour or so.

That is actually a really helpfull tutorial. Not only for desktop ponies it works fine with RPG Maker VX Ace sprites too.
