I love this! The Creature's probably thinking 'I have to make her my mate. We'd be so happy together.'
But with her screaming every time he goes after her, it wouldn't work out. Too bad.

"Oh my! Look at that immaculate pedicure on her feet! I've simply got to getΒ the number of her pedicurist!"
the real reason the Creature was obsessed with Julia Adams.

Artistically it's fantastic!
The whole notion of Mr. Creature F. T. B. Lagoon finding Julie attractive annoys me. Silly 1950s quasi-science... Kong I can almost get. Creature? He's a FISH! She's a MAMMAL!
...
I think I just broke my brain. Troy McClure/Creature-f-t-b-Lagoon!

Haha, me too. Big time. Stay tuned, I have another Julie and Creature illustration already drawn that I just haven't had time to finish coloring yet. But it's coming soon...

great!! Yes..she was truly awesome..and was that a custom suit? I assume not a store bought bathing attire, but made for Her specifically.

This is my all-time favorite monster movie! I loved this as a kid. If you don't have it yet, I reccomend you buy Art Adams Creature Features. He did an excellent job of putting the Creature From the Black Lagoon into a comic version. I loved it!

Yep I bought that comic the day it came out back in the 90's.

I LOVE this! Gil Man's expression seems to be not so much dangerous as gleeful! He looks quite excited to see Kay there. And to be honest, I can't blame him a bit! I love the composition, and little details like Gil Man's feet being less distinct than the rest of him due to perspective. It really works to give the art depth. I also love that darker blue/green used for shading on her, too. Really helps with the underwater atmosphere.
I can't like this enough. If it could be a favourite a few times over rather than just once, it would be!

What software do you use to make this?

BryanBaugh In reply to after-the-funeral [2011-06-22 16:47:44 +0000 UTC]
An 8.5x11 piece of 2-ply bristol board, a pencil, a bottle of ink, and a thin ink brush. When the ink was dry I scanned it into the computer, and threw a quick layer of colors on it, with Photoshop.
In other words, I only use the computer to add color. The real work is done by hand.
