10"x20" acrylic on canvasI have always been fascinated with turtles. I had one as a pet and it died when I was 8 years old. Dealing with death at 8, even if it's a pet, can be a hard thing. I remember crying and telling my parents we had to bury him in his bowl but that we could not cover the top just in case he wasn't all the way dead. That way he could climb out.

awww, I do loves turtles :> we babysat one, and it was fast... and it freaked my cats out because he'd be sitting there like a rock and all the sudden he'd zoom off.

Turtles are so much fun. When my siblings and I were little we lived in Florida and would sometimes try to ride the gopher tortoises that moseyed through our yard. Your cat/turtle story is funny. That would have made a great video spot!

Surrealism is able to have mysterious or absent purpose. The mailbox just seemed like a good idea to represent important communication. It's goal is to deliver an urgent message about a chemistry homework assignment

Turtles are wonderful creatures, they maybe slow but some of them do live through centuries. This piece is playful, always enjoy the lightness of the colors you use..Thank you..

Everything is symbolic, I just don't always know of what. My art digs deep into my subconscious, and I am often surprised at what images come out.

A flying turtle, how cute. He looks very sad though, it's a shame. I am sorry to hear of your loss. I was very much the same when my dog died, I did't want to believe that he had gone. It was very sad.
