Description I am slowly, but securely, starting to experiment more with panels and their placements. Shapes will probably follow soon. After that I am unsure what other aspect of panels there's left to improve, so I guess the development will stagnate after that point. But nevermind such details!

There are few things in PokΓ©mon that are so obviously skewed yet strangely accepted by society as the pre-switch before facing the next pokΓ©mon in battle. I don't know, maybe the opponents shout what they're planning next and our hero simply happens to act fast. It would thus be irresponsible not to take advantage of the situation. Or at least that's what I tell myself when I pound a Youngster's Pidgey with my significantly heavier Graveler. Nonetheless, no other character has apparently picked up on this nefarious tactic, hence why I alone can peacefully reap the rewards. Go me.

Vanessa aka helped out by also bringing up how Revives are used by opponents (or rather, how they're NOT used). I've had the setting and dialogue for this strip somewhat clear for a long time, but it lacked a good finishing panel as the main issue is revealed early on, so Vanessa's input made for a real good ending. This also called for some excessive panelwork which quickly broke my usual 4-panel limit, but I wasn't emotionally attached to it anyway.

Took some time before I got done with this thing. My sudden and intense addiction to Cave Story did little to encourage my production. Fun and insanely frustrated times were had though!

Lawl, Gary's nose.

And he has a point. I always was a more-on-the-offensive type of trainer, but I have developed a small defensive strategy too. I always hated when I was up against people (through wifi) that had completely effective teams, IV'd to the max.

I need to start training/breeding more...

I always thought it was some sort of in-universe courtesy thing since, most of the time, the other trainers are challenging you and don't allow you to back out or decline.

It's disallowed in the Frontier usually! And double (and higher) battles tend to avert this similarly.

I do use loads of Revives, though. XD

Another thing I don't get is why can't we switch out a pokemon directly before an attack hits. Like if your pidgey was about to get hit with Judgement (though what cruel person would pit a Pidgey against an Arceus I don't know, moving on).
Why not recall the pidgey right before the hit?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BummerForShort In reply to silveraquila [2012-06-12 08:44:13 +0000 UTC]

You can, but you need to replace it with another pokΓ©mon.

silveraquila In reply to BummerForShort [2012-06-13 01:36:49 +0000 UTC]

I know, but I mean wait until the attack finished and pop out the pidgey again and go. Hit and run style

I did it was Giratina. Every time it tried to use that Shadow Force of his, I swapped to Lopunny. All powerful attack did nothing, then I swapped out to a stronger pokemon to hit it, it'd try Shadow Force again, out comes Lopunny. Fun fight, everyone said it was hard but I found it rather easy. XD

I hardly ever switch out in game or in wifi over type advantage, with the team i use- there's no point because it is a waste of a turn and all my pokemon all have similar types

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BummerForShort In reply to sephiroth1251 [2012-06-12 09:04:34 +0000 UTC]

I've been of the former mindset before, but if you know your pokΓ©mon will faint or be heavily damaged the next turn, switching to another teammate can actually be worth the free turn the opponent get. And if one is concerned about opponents who keep switching, stealth rock and other field traps will make every switch hurt even more.

You should have more variety on your team though. If more than half of them share a type weakness, then one or two teammates should heavily resist or counter said type.

Wahoo! Another Cave Story fan!

Anyhow I've felt for quite a while, and still do, that using items in trainer battles is wrong. A battle shouldn't come down to the amount of money you have to spend on your pokemon. Naturally that means that gym leaders, the elite four, and the champion all have an advantage over me in that they use items. To each their own I guess.

I'm kinda on and off with the pre-switch. *shrug*
