Description Same tree, different angle. It was just beginning to bud and it really caught that street light well. I've never seen a streetlight rainbow either.

I dont know if it quite captures the mood of spring... but i love this picture nevertheless.. it looks mystical with the rainbow and the flower buds that look like fairy lights.

Well, maybe not spring, but it's a blast of life from a mild winter season.
Thanks! I need to do more night photography.

I like this one the best. It's cool how the street light looks rather like a sort of sun.

thanks! me too, this is my favorite of the two. Actually, several people that I've shown the print thought it was a sun too.

i got excited that these would be of the band "rites of spring" who are awsome. but either way, this is really cool. musta been a pretty still night for it to be this crisp on such a long exposure. the buds look like water drops on a spiderweb or something similarly delicate. as if a coming breeze would blow them all away leaving the branches bare.

There's a band called 'Rites of Spring?' Sounds like they'd produce an epic loudness. Y'know, you're right. I guess I didn't notice it at the time. There must have been absolutely zero wind!

You got what I saw here too. The buds actually were a little wet with condensation, and I think that's why the sparkled so. I like the last line in your comment; that's a rather poetic way of putting it.

Wow, this looks incredible! I like both pics very much, but I think this is a bit better, though. I love the warm colours and the street light is a nice touch.

Thank you very much! I agree with you; I think this is the better of the two. I'm a sucker for streetlights. A man-moth, am I.

Thank you very much! Beauty can be hard to track down in the city, but it's still there. Thanks for the fav and continued support!

0bl1v1on In reply to BurlapZack [2005-05-19 03:27:03 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, beauty in some senses can be hard to find in the city, just think about it differently, the symmetry of skyscrapers, mirrored windows, many things are beautiful in the city, just much more different from the organic beauty of Mother Earth. And no problem, support is something we all need and we can all give.

thanks! street light rainbows lack some of the magic of natural ones. Man-made magic loses a little of the touch. It's still a sight to see.
