Description
Original Design.Carved from basswood.
Leather costume inspired by Mucha.
Wig purchased.
Torso painted with artist's acrylics.
Serpentine stained and then drybrushed with enamel paint.
This project has take three months to complete. I think that carving 2000+ scales will do that.
Picture taken indoors with bad lighting. I will submit some outdoor shots as soon as it quits raining and the light is available.

Thanks.
Was trying for a Art Nouveau look. Which seems strange for a Greek mythological creature.

ItΒ΄s supertricky to gete sharp picture of your mastrepieces or?
IΒ΄ve quite the same problem with my newest marionette:

Thanks.
My camera works better in natural light. I tried using some reflected halogen lights to adequately light the marionette, but it wasn't enough. The flash totally washes out the detail and the compact flourescent lights makes everything yellow.
The weather report says that I should have some decent weather on Thursday, so I'll try then. Water is always a problem when wood is involved.

Oh yeah dangerous water is really nasty towards wood. I hope nothing bad happend to your precious puppet.

Even with the bad lighting I can see how beautiful this is. I don't know if I already suggested this, but you could always join some clubs and get your art out there!

Thanks.
If the rain lets up this week end, I'm going to take it outside and snap a few pictures. The natural lighting makes the scales glisten. Not sparkle. Never, ever sparkle.
I was invited to join puppeteering and they are featuring some of my work which is cool.
I haven't really taken the time to browse clubs to see what is out there yet. Next time I'm on a extended road trip I'll do so. Otherwise I'm more than happy spending time with the kids, wife, alpacas, etc. Oh yeah, and carving every once in a while.

Thanks.
According to Wikipedia, a lamia is a child eating demon from the Greek mythology. So I made a child's toy.
Appropriate? My kids love it so it must be.
