Description
Here's a very bold treatment of a Celtic interlace panel runged by a running border of spirals. I think that both of these come originally from medieval patterns but I'm not quite sure any more; they've been in my pile of sketches for quite a long time.I remember that I'd used the square panel in a book on harp decoration that I was working on at one time, and because I drew it on the same page as some patterns taken from the Castle Otway harp, for years I thought that's where I'd found the design. But it's not.

This is an absolutely fabulous job. I'm Breton and I admire Celtic Knotwork.

Great to see some quality Celtic knotwork on this site, it's a style that seems to have been largely ignored.
I don't live very far from the british museum which has the lindisfarne gospels and other manuscripts in there, they blow my mind away every time I see them.

I love this one!
This is very much like something I had in mind... I want to incorporate some knotwork designs in a tabletop or some other carpentry pieces that I'm planning.
your work is just so wonderful!

Thanks! Designs like this are really well suited to carving in shallow relief. That'd work so well for a table that it's probably what you're already thinking of .

that is EXACTLY what I was thinking of... i haven't seen it done too much, but I'm considering something as maybe a focal piece for the center of a tabletop, but - the really ambitious part - I really want to do borders around the edge of a table top, or decorate legs of a table.
regardless... your contemporary, outstanding work (most contemporary work is just a bunch of cheap copies of the originals) is most inspiring!

This is very beautiful. Was it all digital, or just digitally finished?

Most of the elements in these are sketched on paper, and then the color work is done in Photoshop. Thanks!
