Description
This Deviation is based on a knotwork Biohazard symbol I did for a T-shirt design ([link] ) - but here I've placed it in a setting where it really seems to belong. Like on the tomb of Balor, maybe. You know, one of those ancient, cryptic inscriptions which - thirty seconds too late - is translated as "You idiot, don't even THINK about opening this!"Related content

Very nice, the biohazard is one of my favorite symbols and I've always admired knotwork. The two work quite well together.

I forgot to comment on this one, too?
I never used to like the biohazard symbol, but when people make it so beautiful, it's awesome to see it.
I think you're right about it looking like an ancient symbol for danger, but when used the right way; it can be an awesome piece of art.

Biohazard is on supply and demand in my city. It's just a lack of desorientation and more epic movies. I don't disagree with anyone does that, but I require a plot for my movie.

The biohazard Symbol is great, because it's totally abstract, but somehow conveys the message, "This will mess you up!"

What a well done piece. I'm amused because I have had many people confuse a biohazard symbol I wore with celtic symbols. They are certainly related, with the three extensions and center circle, both commonly used in celtic art. I never thought to create a celtic biohazard symbol, and here you have done it with gorgeous knotwork. Brilliant!

How bizzarely unique, using the biohazard symbol as a piece of artwork.
'tis absolutely gorgeous artwork, too! I've seen people with biohazard symbols on T-shirts before but nowhere near as attractive as your design.
This is something I would definately like on my wearing apparel!

This is an amazing piece.
Not only because of the knotwork but also because of the texture it has...
Amazing!

Ha!.. I knew you were into comics, like I was when I was a kid- just think now, what would have happened if Lex Luthor had actually gained the upper-hand in his bid to dominate the world- no wait- maybe that's another dream...
It's actually scarey, though, to think that they really were burying radioactive nuclear waste in a hole in the ground during the sixties and the seventies!
But I guess your government might not have told you that until you noticed that third hand growing out of the middle of your back!
(Zoiks!)

as mentioned above, it's a curously effective mix of old and new. i can see it as fitting well in an arcanum-type setting which mixes magic and technology, say on a magically enhanced bioweapon or whatnot, or a chemical reserach lab in a pseudo-medieval setting, if you see any of the things i'm on about. anyway, i'd love to see a full design for the surface of that tomb that you mention...?

Rarely do I ever come across an idea or a piece of art-- maybe twice a year or so-- that when I look at it I begin to think "Damn, I wish I had thought of that"
I gotta hand it to you, this is one of those. It's fashioned from two very simple ideas and the combination them just seems obvious when someone finally figures it out. There's a shirt you say? I think I'll have to expand my wardrobe then.

I like how you've combined this contemporary scientific symbol with such an archaic-looking design. Beautiful in general...

Thanks! This was part of a series, and I think the most interesting ones were those that took a recognizable symbol and filled it with knotwork. From a distance you just see the symbol, but when you get close to it, you see that there's this whole other thing going on inside it. I'm really happy with the way those worked out!
