Description Now, it's done!
Well, the process behind the scenes can be described as "Ten percent inspiration, Ninety percent transpiration", since I reworked the stance and the placements of the Allosaurs multiple times as you can see in the concept sketches I did before. But now, it's 100 % joy for me to look at my interpretation of Live the Legend's Allosaurus, which I placed on a dry, slightly sandy ground, accompanied by ferns and horsetails.

At the moment I'm a bit inactive on LtL, since I got work to do for the project I'm working for, but I log in now and then or, if I have a bit more spare time, I support LtL with my art.
Currently, only Sorna and Nublar are available on LtL, while Mainland an the other islands got faded out and some of the species got also removed. I like the role play, because I haven't seen anything like that before I stumbled upon it.

Thank you!
If I compare this with my previous colored work dubbed "Look, I made a kill", then I can see the differences in shading and detail as well.
When I painted the patch of terrain underneath the Allosaurs' feet, I tried to mimic the way I drew grounds in traditional media like my drawings. In addition the ground was also inspired by Plioart 's picture "Dawn of the Jurassic Period" , where I admire the plant life.

No problem. It is always good to have the possibility to honor the artists, who inspire me.

Thank you much and your comment is well appreciated by me. I exaggerated the crests of the male a bit, because these are larger in males according to the field guide description and, well, he will use this ornamentation to impress females. Since I decided to give the male a blood red crest I had to decide for another shade of red for the body, because the same color would limit the effect of the crest.

When the lineart is finished, I put plain colors as a start on the Allosaurs. In case of the female it was a dark, desaturated red and some sort of gray-white. These colors were painted in 100 % opacity.
Afterward I have to decide the general direction of the light in the image, which allows me to place the shadows onto the Allosaurs. I've to admit, it can be challenging to find out which spots are lit by the light and which are cloaked in shadows.
The details like the scales are a combination of different brush types, which Gimp offers to me plus a brush collection made by Suzanne-Helmigh . Sometimes, the scales are just some kind of irregular dots. Besides of the main colors for the Allosaurus (maroon for the female, a vibrant red for the male and a light brown for the juvenile) I made use of various, related brown and gray shades, because in nature different shades create the impression, that something looks "realistic".
If you are interested you can look at process series of "Look, I made a kill", which demonstrates my approach.

you're very welcome, i'll look forward to it ^^
and thank you very much for the explanation with the scales, it really helpful, i should spend my time more to practice with the brushes

This is pleasing to hear my explanations are helpful. Sometimes it is just a great experiment to find out, which brushes are the best for painting scales or other things. I often find myself taking a particular brush, using it at a patch and then pressing ctrl + z, because it doesn't convince me.

Nice to hear their patterns are to your liking
It's an interpretation of that, what I read in the FG and how I imagine them.

Allosaurs <3

Not a fan of JP to any extent, but the picture's quite nice and detailed~

Thank you much

I zoomed partially into the picture to make some of the details. Well, I grew up with JP and I would say it was the movie of my childhood. Later in my life, I just rediscovered it again and stumbled upon JPLegacy's role play forum, which have been intriguing me since that day. Doing the one or another illustration for their field guide is a way for me to participate and give something back to them.

Was quite a bit different for me heheh...
I remember being up late one night as a kid (Was before I was seven) and my parents were watching it. Can't remember exactly what scene was playing, but I ended up ducking behind the couch to try and pretend it wasn't there, but couldn't drown out the audio so I just ran back to my room and shut the door. Frankly, it didn't fascinate me but instead terrified me.

I like some of the dinos sure, but I never much cared for the series itself - or how... "Enthusiastic"... Some people get about it, to put it politely.

Eeee well that's mighty kind of you
Mmm, hey been meaning to ask you, but do you ever take commissions? (2D, or 3D)

Oh, it terrified you... ok, that's not the best start you can have with this movie. I bought the whole series on VHS, whenever I had saved enough money for it.

About commissions: Sometimes, I think about to offer commissions, but then I notice I'm already working for a game creation project, where I've to paint textures, create some of the models and probably do some of their animations. Well, I need to think about that subject, before I say: "Hey, you can commission me for drawing your favorite dino, etc."
I probably would mainly do animals / creatures, because my humans suck.

I was always a very timid person...  .__.
Yeah, wasn't the best start. When I got older (9 ~ 12) I started getting attracted to the dinos themselves, but the first impression I had kept me from wanting to get involved with the movies themselves or most the games (Dad did buy the NES JP game for himself, which I did play out of curiosity but that was the first and last JP game I ever played)

I could go on, but that wouldn't be polite (It's derailing the conversation from your drawing xP)

Hehe, busy busy

A drawing of my raptor or T.rex would be the most likely for a drawing whenever you've got the time (I wouldn't ask a 3D model. I know how complex these can be and how long they take >< ) since I've been trying to get more drawings of them, 'specially my raptorkin :>

Myself was always fascinated by prehistoric life, a time when no human walked the earth and formed its environment according to its favor. When Jurassic Park came into the theaters I was about the age of 8 years and therefore I watched JP some years later, because my parents didn't share my interest in JP.
But I've never played any of the JP games, neither the ones, that were available for Playstation - I never had one - nor JPOG for PC.

I think, I'll put your request on a list and tend to make your raptor.
