Description "Jurassic World" movie study:
Roar of the Indominus

Reference: screenshot from Jurassic World DVD

Well, this is one of my favorite scenes with the Indominus, because I like her pose, so intimidating and demanding yet furious.
The scene also offers a possibility for me to practice gaping theropod maws, which causes some head aches to me, when I have to deal with angles, where the lateral side of the head appears very short and the skull is angled upwards.
I also found out green is not always green as supposed. Here, I had to use a lot of cyan and blue hues, which were tending towards gray.

After a series of images drawn partially from fantasy plus the usual dinosaur influences, I feel like I should do some studies.
Therefore, I pick scenes from a movie like Jurassic World and try to replicate the scene as accurate as possible.

Jurassic World, Indominus rex belongs to Universal Studios.

Very good lookin' dear compiler. I'm the only one who sees the IndominusΒ as very similar to a Carcharodontosaurus?

Thank you!
Well she got Giganotosaurus in her, so she has some traits of it.

Thank you much! Maybe, a Spinosaurus might sneak into the movie studies.

Yeah, I. Rex is one scary girl, and I imagine her hard to draw as well. But I guess that's what you get when you mix so many dinosaurs together. T-Rex, (JP/JW) Velociraptor, Therizinosaurus, Giganotosaurus, Carnotaurus, Majungasaurus, etc. Not to mention some other reptiles, cuttlefish, and so on.
Anyway, this is another great work there! Looks exactly like in the movie. One thing, however, bothers me a little bit. I'm guessing her eyes are closed here, but it looks like as if she had no eyes at all.

It's mostly about learning and understanding the form and the shapes. I usually solve this by drawing rough lines and flesh them out later, but this was just slapping color on a layer, correcting with either eraser or just through paint over.Β
Thank you much and I'm happy to hear, that you like the drawing so far!
The eye is barely noticeable in the screenshot and given to her head is moving, somethings end up to be blurry. All I can see aremostly black areas in the imminent area of the eye socket.

For "just slapping color on a layer", this looks damn impressive, I have to say it again.
And yeah, I understand. This wasn't supposed to be any actual negative point anyway. It's just that the shape of her skull draws my personal attention very quickly to her eyes.

At first it was a bit complicated, because of the bunch of branches, leaves and other details, what forced me to focus on the most prominent elements in the scene like the tree on the right side.
I didn't see it as negative criticism and if there were different light in the scene her eye would be more visible than just the dark areas around it.Β
