Description
Well with everything going on with the Epispiral plugin and my Etched Forms script, I realized than many people do not know how to install plugins for Apo, so here's a tutorial to help!I forgot to mention in the tutorial that there is a **27** plugin limit, after that Apo craps out.

I came across the limit the hard way! It may become a thing of the past with the version in the works now but still a "need to know" for those working with 7x v15 and prior releases.

Hello Tom
Hope you can advise regarding plugins.
I have installed both versions of Apo.
Read through your tutorial.
Found my apo folder in C.
I then created a folder and named it Plugins.
I then added plugins into the new folder.
Now when i work with 3dhack my plugins dont show up at all.
Desperate for help
Regards
Marc

CabinTom, I just got the curve plugin, and used your tutorial. It's been very helpful, but when I try to run the script for [link] , I get an error message from Apophysis saying "Unknown Member Identifier: 'curve' Source position: 70, 18" . Do you know what's going on here? I have the Plugins folder, I have the plugin in the folder, and I have copies of Apo 2.08 3D Hack, 2.08 beta, 2.06 3D hack and 2.02 in the folder. I am currently using 2.08 3D Hack.
Now, I have just started learning about scripts and scripting; I haven't gotten the chance to write my own yet as I want to learn more about them. Please help!

I am so glad that I read through all of the comments before asking my questions. I kept thinking that I was doing something wrong, but I wasn't sure what exactly it was. I had the folder in the right program file, I named it, I made sure that I had 27 or less plugins.....what I didn't do.....I didn't spell it "Plugins", I had it as "plugin". The new folder name must be, I found out after hours of cursing the program and my ineptitude, exactly like the former, or they just don't work.
I am now a happy camper, and can go about driving myself completely mad just working on my art work.
Thanks CT for the great tuts you have.

I seem to be suffering from the same problem as Artist-A, who said that the new plug-ins just don't show up...Any idea on what causes that?

OK, I'm having major problems with this. Not only can I not get the list of these new variations up in Apophysis 2.07 (along with the standard variations that come with it), but I can't even get any of the variations to work when I load them up individually into the program. Maybe it's just that I can't tell the difference between variations, but I get the feeling that they're just the same variations, thus, it hasn't worked. I read through the tutorial countless times and made sure I'd organised my folder just how you've organised, but it's still not working properly and I'm still finding it frustrating.
I'm not the sort of person who's used script transfer, variation transfers, coding etc. and judging from the tutorial, I get the feeling that it's written for those who have got to grips with everything in Apoophysis, and I haven't. I only know how to work the basics in Apophysis so I guess I do get kinda lost when someone goes into detail.
Could you please try and help me on this matter because everyone else seems to have no problems with it and yet, I do.

I do have another question for you though- sometimes I've downloaded different scripts and when I go to use them it says access denied. Do you know what would cause this?
Thanks for your time.

this is what is says Cannot open file"C\Program Flies\Apophysis 2.0\Scripts\3D_Beam_Scripts_byShortgreenpigg.asc" Access is denied.
Everyone of his scripts say this.
I don't have any problems with your scripts.

ok -- does the folder have to have the first letter P capitalized -- as in Plugins -- not plugins
just wondering.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
CabinTom In reply to CorazondeDios [2008-02-24 04:20:45 +0000 UTC]
To be on the safe side, I'd capitalize it.

CorazondeDios In reply to CabinTom [2008-02-24 04:26:18 +0000 UTC]
thanks. I capitalized it.
I have a question -- I've found some .dll files in the apo folder itself -- not the Plugins folder that I just made -- and some of them appear to be the sort of files that sound "plugin-ish" -- for instance --
lazysusan.dll
oscilloscope.dll
stripes.dll
Tri_boarders2.dll
wedge.dll
I'm vaguely remembering downloading some script files and pasting them directly into apo before moving them.....
Should I put copies of those .dll files in the Plugins folder?
I'm such a noob at this, I don't really know exactly what I did when.
thanks for your expert help.

Yes those are plugins. so you can move those into the Plugins folder. (and: I'm glad I'm able to help)

That's strange. It worked before, but now when I open Apo it isn't working. Do you know anything about this?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
CabinTom In reply to Artist-A [2007-12-15 21:00:45 +0000 UTC]
I had reported that the limit was 30, when it is in fact 27 (the whole time I though I had 30 but actually only had 27). So if you added more then that could be why. Did you change anything?

Artist-A In reply to CabinTom [2007-12-16 15:04:16 +0000 UTC]
Ya, the extra variations that I installed just didn't show up.

You forgot to mention that there is a plugin limit of only 27 plugins in the Plugins folder, and that if you exceed 27 plugins Apophysis crashes and burns.

CabinTom In reply to exarobibliologist [2007-12-15 00:54:58 +0000 UTC]
It's 27? I thought it was 30, I'll change that (I had added it in my artists comments). Thanks!

exarobibliologist In reply to CabinTom [2007-12-16 05:32:04 +0000 UTC]
I've also been told by many people that it's 30, but what they probably meant was it somewhere close to 30. Trial and error experimentation by several people has shown 27 to be the actual plugin limit.

CabinTom In reply to exarobibliologist [2007-12-16 06:56:44 +0000 UTC]
By some odd coincidence, even though I was convinced I had 30, all along I've actually had exactly 27 plugins in my folder. So thank you once again for pointing that out.
