Description So here's Cadence, and I need to say I was unaware of how needlessly complicated her cutie mark is when I started this one. I hope I did a passable job on that one

She's made of a pegasus bait with an added super sculpey horn. She's painted with acrylics and sealed with matte spray. Her hair is done with colored sculpey and sealed with sculpey matte glaze (which looks inexplicably shiny here).

Cadence is available, $35, drop a note!

Are there any other tools I need to know what to use when making my own?

Can you show me a link to sites where you bought the materials?

Thanks! That ponytail presented a bit of a challenge, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

How you did it??!!!

I removed the hair, added a horn with Sculpey, did a full repaint with acrylics, and did the hair with colored Sculpey. You can bake the PVC ponies at the temperature used to cure sculpey.

What temperature is that (in Fahrenheit)?

CadmiumCrab In reply to IronBatMaiden91 [2013-04-10 21:34:47 +0000 UTC]

It's baked at 175 for about 20 minutes. I got my tools at Michaels in the polymer clay area in a basic beginner set which included a needle tool and two plastic tools. If you're looking for some more variety, you can get a set of dental tools from Amazon for $10-15.

Thanks! And based on your picture, you use uncolored clay?

CadmiumCrab In reply to IronBatMaiden91 [2013-04-10 22:28:51 +0000 UTC]

For my custom toys, I usually don't paint manes and just use the colored clay. The only exceptions to this are Zecora and Thunderlane.

Okay. Fair enough. It's just I wanna make a custom Cadance and I'm afraid that the yellow and purple will mix when I put them together.

Could I get a size estimate or comparison?

This is made from one of the smaller brushables. I believe it's around 2 1/2 inches tall.

Ah, so it's made from the smaller brushables? That's good. I was afraid it would be a Fashion Style size, which it gigantic xD

CadmiumCrab In reply to Chrismilesprower [2012-09-18 02:52:03 +0000 UTC]

That's about the going rate for a custom, prices generally start at the $30 range.

sparky416 In reply to CadmiumCrab [2012-09-18 10:05:27 +0000 UTC]

that isn't 100% true ^.^' I would say that the starting rate (from the guys I look at) is $5

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CadmiumCrab In reply to sparky416 [2012-09-18 13:21:05 +0000 UTC]

That can be true for a small, from scratch, piece, but $5 doesn't even cover the cost of the base figure.
