Ah yesss....more octo-based aliens. The suit design was the main focus...and I had a lot of fun creating it.

Hmmm. Your comment is a puzzle for me, Dmitri. I did this illustration for a roleplay storyline entitled "A Thousand Suns", but I'm unfamiliar with the actual details of the story. I'm more familiar with LEXX series, but not by much. A symbol? On their armor?

These "things" work for "His Divine Shadow?" otherwise, for what they have on the armor the "symbol" of the divine order of the LEXX series?

Aahhh...I see what you are referring to, Dmitri. The "symbol" you are focusing on is actually not a symbol at all. Its an unused arm-hole in the spacesuit. It is in a closed position because the alien inside the suit has elected not to use that particular opening. If you take a close look at the alien in the background you will notice a tentacle coming out of the corresponding opening on the spacesuit. After looking at the link you sent to me (showing the LEXX symbol) I can easily see where you might make that connection!

Tentacles indeed! We boney humans have a fascination with life-forms that have no bones. Whether earthly...or other-worldly. I had alot of fun designing the suits.

I've always loved your alien designs Mike. This one is no exception.
I could always tell which of your creatures would realised as a practical effect (prosthetics adorning a real person) and which would have to be fully cgi, if they were in a movie.

You clearly have a cinemagraphic mind, Simon. As do I. A handy thing to have, don't you think?

Having a 'viewfinder' within an imagination is a very useful tool for an artist to possess Mike, I agree completely. It helps tremendously with visualization.

Love the way their equipment is designed to fit their manipulative appendages.

Glad you noticed, James...because THAT was exactly the challenge I was given: design a spacesuit for them.

Nice, you always do a good job on strange alien races.

Thanks, Lem. To be honest, I didn't design these particular babies. I was given reference, so they must be an already established race within the game. My job was to design a spacesuit that..um..suited them.
