Oh man . . . seeing that many Stormtroopers makes my hand hurt in sympathy. I've had a client literally request "a thousand TIE Fighters" assaulting a Rebel base, so I feel your pain with this one.
Still, when you do finish an illustration with this many repeated details, it does feel pretty dang good.

Wow.... your alternate title immediately came to mind. This brings back so many memories of those nightmare art assignments. It's so easy for a designer to write "A line of storm troopers reaching to the horizon...", but they always seemed to have little sense of what kind of work that meant for us. On the other hand I started getting pretty good about "reinterpreting" such assignments in a less rigorous/less literal way... and not having the designers hate me
Anyway, even though this is an older work, I'm sure the trauma is still healing. You've got my sympathies.

So true, my friend. Stormtroopers make me break out in hives to this very day! It has always been my theory that when an art director asks for everything in the galaxy, they really only want the world...and usually get it.
Kinda goes like this: Want the world...ask for the galaxy...get the world...feign disappointment...smile quietly to themselves.
