This piece was done for an online roleplaying card set. So I worked from a description from the art director. I've done alot of work in the roleplaying game industry over the past 25 years or so...which translates into alot of black n' white work. I'm trying to get the time to invest in a new color piece to upload here. We will see!

A roleplaying game is basically a game system in which each player developes their own character, and a GameMaster uses Roleplaying books and materials to create adventures for the characters to "play" in. Almost all of the Star Wars illustrations in my Gallery were done for Star Wars Roleplaying Game materials. It was alot of fun producing illustrations that were used to flesh-out adventures for players who wanted to roam the Star Wars Universe.

The hardest job is creating an effective storyline for the players to follow. That job falls to the GameMaster, so it helps if to be in a group with a real Creative at the lead! And the GameMaster relies on the books and related materials to create the best adventures...so that's where inspiring illustrations can help.

Truthfully? I'm a bit chagrined to admitt that I've never actually played a roleplaying game. But I have plenty of friends who are (or used to be) big Gamers. My job as an illustrator was/is to create inspiring illustrations to accompany the text that the GameMaster uses to build the adventures. I still do the occasional batch of illos for roleplay products, but haven't been called upon to draw any Star Wars for quite awhile. Mostly sword n' sorcery/ fantasy stuff.

Oh to bad, your talent is so amazing! You should try to make pictures for some book or somthing. I cant believe nobody hasnt asked you to draw any more star wars stuff. People get into that digital art stuff and forget about the true talent out there. Maybe you should write your own book and ilistrate it or, write a book about art a book on how to draw and paint. You could diffently do somthing like that.

I have considered the idea of illustrating my own children's book...and putting it online. Finding the TIME to do that is another story altogether. It's an option. My problem is that I enjoy many interests aside from art...and "they" all scream for my attention!

I developed this idea from concepts that have been worked over and over again by any number of scifi stories and films. So certainly you can see The Thing in there...and Alien as well. There aren't any new stories, Kayla...just new ways of telling old ones!
