First off. I'd to state that this is the shittyest coloring job EVER! But I didn’t make this expecting to get a DD. I did it to illustrate a point.Lately I’ve been noticing a lot of "tough girls" running around DA with dark eyes, shaggy black hair, a love of purple and an obsession with skulls and/or any combination of the things that make me, me. Now IT MAY JUST BE ME noticing these things. It COULD BE my imagination...but yaknow what? For once I don't think it is.
i'm sick of seeing girls who are like..Candy diet ONE CALORIE ISNT GOOD ENOUGH!...or Candy's retarded little sister or some slutty sex bomb--you get the idea.I don't take kindly to people ripping off my characters ESPECALLY not my pride and joy, Candy. Usually if I see a "friend" post up some new character with a load of stitches and a crooked smile I just brush it off. But to see some random rumps doing it and then come to try and be my friend IT DOENST MAKE ME HAPPY PEOPLE! Especially since I was on DA first and I’ve had Candy’s design floating around WAY BEFORE I ever joined here.
There’s been about 6 cases of "doppelganger syndrome" as I’ll call it for now. 4 Gorillaz fans, 2 random people and 2 of each are on my watch list. I won't name names...not because it’s mean just because I don't wanna get busted for "public humiliation" by the DA admins. so if you wanna know what the fuck is going on feel free to IM me or note me...now if you're looking at this going " wait a second...that looks like me/my character/someone I know." you better tell the bitch to get a hair cut and some new clothes because I was here first. and these clones are nothing more then different variations of candy I whipped up real quick, all wearing things either I have worn before or I would wear, all the clothes have some sort of significance to them. And if you think I'm talking about YOU...note me or comment here and we'll have ourselves a little chat...but know this and know this NOW. I've been on the Gorillaz fan scean since late 2000/early 2001 and I’m on Google too so trying to say "it’s a coincidence" is pure bullshit
because my image is EVERYWHERE! You can NOT know what I look like, even Gorillaz fans I don't talk too know who the hell I am. And if you're a Gorillaz fan or if you're friends with any of my friends you are very familiar with me by now. And to just know who I am AND try to swipe my ideas anyways without even credit TO ME! is just plain low.Don’t think I’m speaking to any one in particular this is just a GENERAL STATEMENT! But if you think I’m talking about you or anyone you know. tell them they / you, have 30 days to get a "character update" before I start reporting bitches left and right and I know my REAL friends will back me up on this because they know I don't get pissed off to the point where I start mentioning things easily and if its gotten this far it then you know it has gotten on my last nerve.

You're right about the copycats... I also hate it when people find a character they like and make one who almost resembles him/her perfectly, but change a few things. I admit many times artists get inspired from already existent characters (ex- Rei Ayanami -evangelion- and Tomoe Yukishiro-Ruroni Kenshin-.. Tomoe's creator confessed he based her on the cold Rei) but they manage to give these new charas their own personality and else. Again, Tomoe has her own personality and story, which differ from Rei's.
But that hasn't got to be confused with copying a character and showing it up like it's an original idea. Inspiration is not the same as copying! Also, one way to finding and unmasking a copied character is that s/he has the exact same personality or details as the copied chara, or no soul at all. With time the copy does not evolve, like an original (but somewhere else inspired) chara does.
Enough with the chattery! May I inquire who these Candy Copycats are? send me a note or something liek that so DA won't react.
Your character is unique!! Because she has a good part of yourself, and it is evident! Fake ones are empty!

I've found that a lot too. A lot of newer artists have been stealing my Ryoko design, even though I've been drawing her design for years. Everytime I see a copy, I have to redesign.. it gets quite tiring actually...

i went around with a paper tacked to meh shirt all day that said,
"Im actually a shadow clone",about 1/6 of the people in school actually got the joke,
but yeah,i agree about the peoples with stiches trying to be candy,but we all know who to TRUE candy is,i drew myself candy style cause i was in a crazy mood one day,i'll have to post it...its shows me with stiches and my hand on the floor tiwtching...lol,im disfunctional

I know exactly what you mean, but usually it's only with characters designs for me, and stops there because no one knows what gender I am.

You did quite well on the blood,and I find it quite interesting that you took the time to make each Candy Clone different,yet similair. Usually I can't do pictures with multiple people because I have no patience,and I usually get all "blegh" by the time I'm done one person.
Even if this is only to prove a point,it's very good.Especially since you got your point across in a timely fashion.

Never came accross one of those, I must say o.o... But that aint like if I was browsing DA much.
In my opinion, I'll say that nothing looks more like a gorillaz fan than another gorillaz fan.
I remember, back in the days, I have reached a few other G-fans that lookde a lot like me, but I couldnt told if I was the copy, or if they were... I saw a lot of girls with red hair and black bangs, I drew myself like I was in RL, and I had that type of hairdo. And all of those girls had a similar look, some kind of gothy/skater/punky type of clothing. I wonder if it wasnt just because of a lack of imagination, from both sides.
Ah well!!

I know how that is. Seeing characters reminding something that you had designed - looking original.
Personally I have come across ones with a chracter that looke too much like my chara, Ijin with her markings. Even colour choices were the same. It burnt my heart because Ijin was originally a chara I designed just before I joined DA the first time, under the name ~ijin . Her look was somewhat uniue, which is exactly how I tried to design her to be.
I didn't raise any voice to that possible copy-cat because a.) the artist was somewhat popular, and i didn't want to get flamed by his/her fans... and b.) I tried to keep in mind that it is a possible coinsidence too.
Anyway... nice idea for a picture n_n Kill 'em all i say XDD

Heh. Well actually, most Gorillaz fans I see have very.... er.... unoriginal characters. Most of them I happen to see (but of course, not all of them) usually resemble one of the chat-o-matic character icons.
