hey guys have returned! with shiny new arts for you. be honest who missed me? --ANY WHO good gravy is my grasp on the passage of time really THAT poor!? has it been a YEAR!? since my last style challenge post? URG! I'm so disgusted with myself for that! I feel neglectful and dirty...
BUT LADIES AND GENTS THAT HAS CHANGED! I come bearing gifts and a renewed promise to COMPLETE the style challenge. starting right NOW with this! the last challenge I had completed from last year as well as 4 more that I have inked and ready for color that i have done recently, and thats just the beginning folks, my time away has done me well, the creative juices are FLOWING. so without further adieu, I would like to re-introduce you all to the style benders challenge. - [link]
Todays Victim 7 of 20 : Bill Plympton one of the many artists I had the pleasure of meeting at san diego comic con in 2007 he was an absolute joy to encounter and he even drew me a little angel guy in my sketch book. Bill's works like "sex & violence", "i marriage a strange person" and "guard dog" amongst his many short films are what I was glued too in the early 90's plopped in front of the TV as a child all wide eyed at the scribbly people be disemboweled , ground down to nothing or kissed then exploded. good times man, good times. but it was his kind of dark humor that dragged me into a place I was all to willing to go, the morbid cartoon world that was liquid television and cartoon sushi.
About the Picture: the drawing itself is FROM a year ago however for the style challenge I don't think age factors into the quality since it's not my style that can age ( makes sense?) but Bills style is very unique to the challenge because it's so messy and so unique I could not do it digitally. I followed in Bills footsteps and took to my canvas with color pencil and scanned the result. I TRIED to walk another Mile in Bill's shoes by filming my drawing as it progressed but that proved to be more trouble then it was worth. however it was fun to color like I was 5 again. Bills scribbly style was what attracted me to his work and it comes as no surprise he is independently published, who else would hire someone with such a distinctive style? it's a risk big companies are not willing to take so he financed his cartoons all himself and got them made how he wanted, yea...thats the way to do it!
Bill Plympton, a man who has my utmost respect and whose style I hope I did Justice too. you be the judges.

Interesting style, Candy. I really like the sketchy-ness of it. I really like Candy's curvy body and Mack's big square body. The way you drew her hips and her eyes are so awesome.
Nice job for a come back for your style challenge. I am very excited to more of your work in this series!

I looked up Plympton; you nailed him real well. I love his scribbly, scratchy style. I love their expressions and Candy's pose.

From what I've seen of his works, this is really true to his style! You did a smashing job of how they look and I'm especially impressed with how their figures look. I'm absolutely in love with Candy's pose here! It's so sexy and classy. It's also great you chose traditional mediums for this piece. Awesome work done overall!

I'm so happy you got back into this after our visit xD This one was one of my favourites, especially Candy ;D! The anatomy is so silly in his style, as its like accurate in the respect that its also so stylized. I can tell why you like it
Also I see some textures went into this ;D Nice job!

You did a good job of getting his style, with the rough colored pencil and art noveau kind of anatomy. I really like the way you did Candy, especially the face.

Wat, it seriously has been a whole year already since your last Style Challenge post? Damn...
On topic, I never heard of this guy, so I can't judge the style-likeness. But it's nice to hear he was so nice to you at the meeting. I do see it's very stylistic with the facial features and "scribbly" coloring.
