i dont understand the lineart colouring D:
ur drawing the same lineart over again just with colours?
or do yo add colours to the black line art ? o.o
and when i used that pen to get the lineart it didnt get like yours. lits like square shaped lines x.x
and not as thick as yours either v.v

Capricornfox In reply to Marenxd94 [2011-02-01 20:50:34 +0000 UTC]

I'm adding colour to the black like by hitting the button I have circled in the 6th panel in red. (on the line art layer) then just pick a colour and it will only colour the line art.

as for your pen took, check your settings, other than that I can't help much cuz I'm not quite sure what you mean

Do you use the paint bucket to colour the spaces? Or the pen tool?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Capricornfox In reply to mariekelikestodrawn [2010-12-03 21:30:28 +0000 UTC]

sometimes both, I usually fill the majority of it if I can with the bucket, and then go around with the pen for touch ups

mariekelikestodrawn In reply to Capricornfox [2010-12-03 21:47:32 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!

On what layer do you use the bucket?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Capricornfox In reply to mariekelikestodrawn [2010-12-03 23:27:14 +0000 UTC]

On the Lineart layer, I select an area with the wand tool. Then I go to the colour layer and fill it in on there. You may have to invert the lineart before applying the colour so it reaches the very edges, or else you can just go over that part with the pen (though it's more time consuming.)

I love seeing how other poeple draw--it helps me learn!

If only my photoshop had a damned pen tool!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Capricornfox In reply to KHwhitelion [2010-07-12 18:59:50 +0000 UTC]

pen tool is the same as a brush tool. every photoshop has one

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KHwhitelion In reply to Capricornfox [2010-07-12 19:06:55 +0000 UTC]

it is?

huh, I was under the impression that the pen tool was a little cleaner than a brush tool. ah well

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Capricornfox In reply to KHwhitelion [2010-07-12 19:37:30 +0000 UTC]

you can change whether it's a fuzzy brush or clean line brush at the top under the sizing

BlackLupin [2010-07-12 04:49:36 +0000 UTC]

How did you go from black and white line art to colored line art?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Capricornfox In reply to BlackLupin [2010-07-12 05:09:32 +0000 UTC]

the white is it's own layer underneath the line art.

If I turn the white off, I get the checkered "non" bg, and just the line art. (in photoshop.) Looking at the tutorial, there's the part where I show which lock needs to be on. when you lock that line art layer with the left lock, (circled) you can then take the paintbrush and paint over the lines and JUST the lines will colour.

Does that make sense?

BlackLupin In reply to Capricornfox [2010-07-12 07:50:39 +0000 UTC]

I just tried that and it didn't work.

I followed it exactly.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Capricornfox In reply to BlackLupin [2010-07-12 17:36:29 +0000 UTC]

hmmm..

you're sure your line art isn't on a white bg? make sure you lock the transparency on the line art layer..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BlackLupin In reply to Capricornfox [2010-07-12 18:33:50 +0000 UTC]

Yup.

It's on a layer all it's own, above the white background and below the color layer.

I've locked the right layers but how do you lock the transparency on the line art layer?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Capricornfox In reply to BlackLupin [2010-07-12 18:52:47 +0000 UTC]

thats the button I have circled

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BlackLupin In reply to Capricornfox [2010-07-12 19:38:32 +0000 UTC]

What setting should there be?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Capricornfox In reply to BlackLupin [2010-07-12 20:05:06 +0000 UTC]

opacity should be at 100%...I really don't know what to tell ya, maybe take a screen shot, post it, and I can see for myself which settings you have?

Capricornfox In reply to BlackLupin [2010-07-12 23:01:59 +0000 UTC]

ok, so it's hard to see, but do you have your "Colour Line art layer" separate from your "line art layer"? because they should be the same thing.

are you able to turn off every layer and just show me your line art layer?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BlackLupin In reply to Capricornfox [2010-07-12 23:08:37 +0000 UTC]

Yes I do.

Really? According to your tutorial they're supposed to be on two different layers.

The line art layer is the layer on the very top.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Capricornfox In reply to BlackLupin [2010-07-13 00:17:50 +0000 UTC]

No no, the Line art is on one, the Colour layer is the actual colouring layer, not colouring the line art, but the actual picture..

So you have your Line art layer, which you colour the line art on

and then you have your colouring layer, which is for after you've coloured the line art, to colour the actual pic.

make sense?
