Description
(In the Langston Universe)... Enterprise II-Sub ClassStardate 2324.5, The original Constitution-Class, U.S.S. Enterprise (NCC-1701) had been decommissioned and sent to the Starfleet Museum Orbital Complex at Earth after a unprecedented eighty years of service as the flagship with in the Federation Starfleet Armada.
Starfleet's Commander-in-Chief, Fleet Admiral Pavel Chekov issues a orders for the next Enterprise (NCC-1701-A) be developed as a new and more advanced class. Since the Khitomer Accords signing in 2293, relations between the Klingons and the Federation seemed tenuous at first until the Romulan's started making more aggressive covert moves to destabilize the region.
Admiral Chekov's response was the Ambassador-Class Starship. In his own words "It was the apitamy of what both Starfleet and the Federation stood for; Galactic exploration, Peaceful Diplomacy, Defense and Humanitarian aid, The Ambassador could do it all."
The Ambassador-Class clearly was twice the size and length of it's predecessor, more maneuverable then it's Romulan counterpart-the Destrix-Class, and employed a plasma-based tracking line phaser array and a rapid fire torpedo launchers. During it's development, Captain Peter Pressman of Starfleet's Advanced Starship Design Bureau commented..."It's was like the Ares-Class...only on steroids." In 2326, the U.S.S. Ambassador (NX-10520) was launched from the Copernicus Shipyards orbiting Luna.
The Ambassador later saw action when her trial runs took her near the Federation/Romulan Neutral Zone. Three Romulan D'Tervak Birds-of-Prey had crossed into Federation Space near Starfleet Outpost 27. The Ambassador quickly and effetely managed to destroy one, disable another and the third clocked and retreated to Romulan Space. The captured Bird-of-Prey managed to have it's clocking device retrieved, but due to the Treaty of Algernon, signed in 2311; The Federation was explicitly forbidden to develop clocking technology for use of starships. But the Khitomer Accords circumvented this when Starfleet handed over the clock to the Klingon's for there development.
Later that year, the Klingons presented the Federation with a improved Klingon clocking device under the 5th amendment of the Khitomer Accords. This allowed the Federation use of clocking tech with out having to violate the Treaty of Algernon.
In 2330, Fleet Admiral Chekov along with Starfleet Intelligence Director: Admiral Uhura, Starfleet Surgeon General: Admiral McCoy, Ambassador Spock of Vulcan and Federation President Hikaru Sulu attended the historic launching of the newest Flagship of the Federation-the U.S.S. Enterprise (NCC-1701-A), under the command of Captain Rachel Garret, the granddaughter of Admiral Diana Garret.
Garret's crew included...

Second Officer, Chief Engineer: Lt. Commander Kirin O'Donnell

Chief Medical Officer: Lt. Commander Patricia Howard, MD.

Interesting Alternate universe Enterprise C as the Enterprise A. Almost looks like a Connie but on Steroids
