Is it me, or does this resemble a Romulan Bird of Prey of that era?

It's a curiosity that they didn't put any logistical transports in the Star Trek series. I mean, without logistics, they wouldn't be able to do anything, literally. The crew would starve as soon as they got stuck!

Yup...I can understand though, in TOS...They only had so much buget for models. Even the other Connies were kits bought at the local hobby shop.

They must have been desperate then.

It's a fan design...That should explain it right there

They officially used a fan design? Now that's what I call desperate!

Oops thought that last comment was on the Furor. Not desperate, as cutting corners. NBC kept cutting the budget every season.

Why would they do a stupid thing like that? It was probably one of their more popular shows!

Ugly, but essential.

I always like auxiliary/logistical ships. Star Trek always list a lot of warships, but it always nice to see a space-borne workhorse more then once and while. More folks should design non-military ships.
I dont see it as all that ugly. It really keeps to that classic Star Trek look. What I see as beautiful - most would find ugly, ether in a bolted-together look from 80's sci-fi or that well campy chrome polished, aerodynamic look from retro sci-fi from the 50's.
