Description
© Greg Gibbs. You may not use, replicate, manipulate, or modify this image without my permission. All Rights Reserved.Fog in the valleys below my house with the central bulge of the Milky Way stretching above. Single 2 minute exposure using the "Magic Glove" technique to properly expose the Milky Way and expose the foreground at the same time. Twin glows on the horizon are from small towns over 30 miles away. If the sky is completely clear I don't see this light pollution but because there is a layer of cloud over them in this shot the light is refelecting back down off the clouds. Green cast above the cloud layer is airglow and is similar to aurora (although not as spectacular) and it is caused by high energy particles interacting with natural oxygen in the upper atmosphere.

I think I will stop to comment on your works. I'm out of superlatives. And the 2001 quote "Oh my God, it's full of stars!" is getting old.

This is most beautiful Milky Way presentation I've ever seen. But there's a little something I don't like - stars are a bit blurred. Although the composition is perfect.

Thank you very much Slightly blurred stars are normal with fixed tripod shots. I can always tell when someone has done it the easy way and combined two exposures (one fixed and one tracking) in post processing. I like the challenge of capturing it all in one.

That fog looks so amazing. This photo feels like it has to much to look at (in a good way) that I just want to sit and stare at it, discovering all the beautiful aspects, section by section. The sky is great, the fog is great, the light pollution is even great... It's all very lovely and surreal in my opinion. ^_^

Beautiful. The fact that this is right above us, and not an imagined view from some alien planet makes it even more spectacular.

Awesome.
