Here she finally is. My personal character, Lhune.DOWNLOAD PLEASE
I am aware that she has changed much. Although maybe annoying for some of you, I find it quite natural. I came up with Lhune when I was 15 years old. You would not believe how much I have changed since then, as a person. Lhune simply changed with me. But, as my personality and attitude are finally starting to settle, so is her design. She may still 'suffer' from changes in the future, but I don't expect any major ones to come anymore.
A couple of random facts about her that I could not fit onto the ref sheet:
Lhune loves to 'sing'. She can shape her mouth flaps so that they help her 'howl' a tune, much like a wolf or a lion's territorial growl. However, her singing is not as monotonous. Think of it as a mix between a whale's singing and a wolf's howl. She is quite hygienic. Whenever Lhune eats something for example, she will make sure there is clear water nearby, to wash her claws and mouth with. Lhune does not much like 'unnatural colours'. She also seriously dislikes pink. Blue and green are her favourites. More may be added later.Please do not use this character to roleplay with or as one of your own. She is mine, I have put a lot of effort and care into her design and it would greatly disappoint me to see her being used by others.

Wow, she is a very elegent creature. The design is truly something beautiful, the colours are amazing. Spectacular. You don't mind if I create one of my own? The same species as Lhune? If not, thats alright. It is still a true masterpiece!

Great reference sheet! I think it covers almost everything a good one should have, plus: Its design is really nice to look at!
The only thing I miss is the traditional fullbody front/back views (since you have already a side view in there). That would make the sheet feel even more complete :]

I found it a bit useless to add more views of her body, because she has no attributes or markings that need to be shown from a certain angle. Her anatomy is very close to a lynx' (or other big cats), so I figured that was quite clear as well xD.
I should draw her a bit more though. I'm kind of neglecting her.

Ah maybe you're right about that. I think people get a good idea of what she looks like from the pictures you already have. It's just.. it would have covered -everything- if those views where included :] that's what I meant.
Haha I know what you mean.. sometimes one just forgets to draw their original characters for a while. But the good things is, you will always find your way back to them ^^

I like that she's so simple that if I drew her, I wouldn't have to look at the ref that often.
There's only one thing that stands out to me. If she can see better at night than she can at day, why is she diurnal?

She is mostly crepuscular, that is, active at dawn, twilight and clear nights. Those are her favourite times. However, most of her friends are active during the day

That really depends on how much of Lhune's design you will reference from. If it's obviously taken from her design, I don't mind, as long as you mention where you got your ideas from

You're welcome--looking through your gallery (very enjoyable!) I saw the older versions of this character, and I have to say I think this is the strongest of the designs I saw. Simplicity not only in the style of this profile but in the design of the character has made the whole thing much stronger than past takes (though they were nice too). So, well done!

Hehe, yes. I'm afraid that when I was still a bit younger than I am now, I loved to fantasize about flying. Back then I wouldn't even have considered removing her wings. But as I grew I slowly started to grow into liking my creatures as realistic as possible. With that, my character changed. First into something dinosaurian which I liked for a while, but it's still always been the big cats that pulled me the most. So, here is she is, wingless, cat-like and heavy

That must be a development artists have to go through if they start young enough--the trimming down of character appearences. I know I did!

I think I know Lhune from the start, alas, I can remember her old designs, especially the sometimes extravagant horn designs! ;D
There's nothing better than a developing character, and it's true what you say, character are supposed to change along with their creator. Something I have been doing as well, and always encourage other artists to do.
I couldn't help but admire the way you made her so balanced over the years! You know the kind of people who create a character that -has everything-, -can do anything-, and has the most conflicting design imaginable. Also known as Mary Sue. But you made Lhune a natural character, you prove there's no need of unnatural and complicated colour schemes, as long as the basic shape is alright.
Her personality and strenghts and weaknesses are also nicely balanced! I loved the fact she is not so good at hearing, flaws give a character more depth and reason.

You're absolutely right. I've seen quite a few "Mary Sue" characters out there as well. The thing is that the artist often loves the particular character he created, while the watchers quite quickly detest it because of its flawlessness. I don't really know if that's a bad thing, since as long as the artist likes the character.. Well, it's all up to him in the end.
The thing is though if there's one thing I know, it's that nobody is perfect. Not even in a fantasy world, and they shouldn't be. It wasn't really intentional to give Lhune a bad sense of hearing, but it was a natural result of her lack of ears (which I just couldn't fit in there and didn't want to either). I love it when people actually take many things into consideration when designing their characters and I try to do so myself as well as I can.

yeah I completely agree with you. The way I sometimes try to do it is not in phisical aspects, but usually in personality as well. Most of my characters have one big personality flaw they have to deal with, or something that bothers people around them. Making a natural character all comes down to -not- giving it super powers in each and every way. Controlling and element, being good with swords, being able to fly, all those things are ok, as long as a character doesn't have -all- possible things combined, that's just boring and overpowered. As if you want to say, in a childish way, my character -owns- yours! And is the best, etc etc. Idealized personas.. When you grow older (and after a few loving relationships) you realize that perfection is good+bad.. and that's where characters transformations happens, sometimes! XD At least it did for me.

She cares for her teeth by picking them clean with her nails (which she first cleans, as said in the describtion; she's quite hygienic) and chewing on certain branches and herbs prevent plaque and decay x3.
