My first sub of 2012. I know, what took me so damned long?!

This is meant to be bad. Some random mother-f@cken tasteless cheese dream I had a couple of weeks ago. Doodled it an didn't think much of it at first.

It's a random assortment of O.T.T (and not particularly cool looking) design elements. It's kind of like a purposefully naff version of the kind of things Jack Kirby did so damned well, damn his amazing talent.

Stuart Immonen does something similar to this, but oh-so-much better, when he need to go all-out crazy. His work on Nextwave is is some of the most amazing and bat-shit-crazy he's ever done and it is beautiful.

I love getting influences in things and don't hide the fact. I wear them on my sleeve. With this... thing, it's obviously Skeletor & Trap-Jaw toys, Hellboy, Gola shoes, Vashta Nerada, Sentinels, Red Skull and some of Kirby's New Gods stuff (I saw some action figures of them recently in TK Maxx. Very nice. Why didn't I buy it?!).

The concept is big veiny powerful claw thing (he could easily be called The Orange Claw... Skull... Thing... hmm. Anyway, skull is empty, sees through the eye in his chest... etc... Lava filled veins and a glass mechanical hand. Or just a shit-hot red-hot metal hand. With lava in his veins.
