"I honestly don't really like Millie. She never had much appeal to me and I feel like she was too mean to Blossomfall, but I can understand why she was acting the way she was."or
"I don't think Millie deserves all the hate that she gets. She's done some bad things but everyone makes mistakes."
Ok cool.
"ANYONE WHO LIKES MILLIE IS FUCKING STUPID. CAN'T THEY SEE HOW MUCH OF A BITCH SHE WAS?"
or
"HOW FUCKING DARE YOU INSULT MILLIE. SHE'S FUCKING PERFECT. SHUT UP AND GO DIE."
sToP.
So recently I received some comments from Millie supporters and it encourged (for the lack of a better word lol) me to redraw this:
and rehash my opinions on Millie.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My opinions on Millie have changed a bit over the years; I don't hate her as much as I used to, but I still dislike her. [LENGTHY RANT AHEAD I'M SORRY; skip to the cut if you'd like]
My anger against her have fizzled because I've seen people bring up a few good points. She brought Graystripe back home. She was only worried about Briarlight because she had almost lost her two times before. She acted the way she did against Blossomfall because of her stress. I could go on.
I mean, compared to Rainflower, Millie is an absolute ANGEL.
Although I am completely aware of these points, personally, Millie has never been much of an appealing character. Here are my reasons :
First off, I will not use the argument "Millie stole Graystripe from Silverstream" because Silverstream has consented Graystripe's relationship with Millie and supports it. (and the fact that the Erins confirmed Graystripe will choose Silverstream when he enters StarClan is punishment enough for Millie lol... Graystripe and Millie's relationship in the novels wasn't that great anyways.)
Millie...just doesn't do much. I haven't read the books in a long time, but from what I recall, I don't think Millie has done anything significant after she brought Graystripe home (but even so, Graystripe just doesn't seem as fun of a character at all when he comes back, compared to the original series). The only think I remember her for is fussing constantly for her kits and sharing prey with Graystripe.
Millie coddles Briarlight excessively. Yes, I understand that she almost died twice, but doesn't that in a sense show Millie that she's a fighter? Jayfeather is there to take care of her and Briarlight has shown to be strong and independent.
There are other mothers in the series who have experienced traumatic events with their kits. Frostfur was the mother of Cinderpelt AND Brightheart, yet she didn't go hysterical and yell her other children. (YES, i get that Frostfur was born a clan cat and is used to violence and injuries, but she had two of her own kits mangled and defaced and still remained calm and loving to her other children.)
I've seen people say that Blossomfall is a bratty attention whore and that she's the bad guy. People compare her to Bumblestripe and say that he didn't care if Millie ignored him. I agree that she was acting a bit childish, but every cat has their individual personalities and what they deem "acceptable behavior" from their parents. It's like that when they were kits, Blossomfall grew accustomed to being pampered by her mother. That's why when Millie started ignoring her, Blossomfall felt neglected and jealous. Sometimes, you can't help those feelings. Blossomfall herself has said that she felt guilty for having them.
Then Blossomfall and Ivypool went into the tunnels. Blossomfall openly expresses "Will Millie miss me if I die down here?". She's truly insecure about how her mother views her. I don't think that this is "bratty". A lot of children who are ignored by their parents will doubt their love for them and make them feel neglected. When they return, Millie does something that I really don't like. She berates Blossomfall, confirming Blossomfall's fears and making her believe that Millie would not have missed her if she had died in the tunnels.
Millie says that what they did was irresponsible, which I agree to; they were wasting their time and were being dumb. But then she goes on to her to "grow up and become a proper warrior." Um. Proper warrior? Millie, who stays back in the clan and whines and cries and coddles Briarlight apparently know what it means to be a proper warrior. I don't remember seeing Millie go out and hunt for Briarlight, so why does she so strongly feel as though Blossomfall has to?
She goes on to say that "Briarlight would do anything to help feed the clan." Ok, way to go. Not only are you making Blossomfall feel like you wouldn't care if she died, but now you're comparing her to Briarlight. THE VERY THING THAT SHE IS FEELING GUILT ABOUT. that is one big no-no. (correct me if I'm wrong, I read this on the wiki) Brackenfur even approaches Millie and says that the important thing is that they're safe. She then proceeds to yell at him.
People have said "Well, Blossomfall should've confronted her mother about it." But after all those things that Millie has said, would Blossomfall really have felt secure enough to open up to her mom? Also, shouldn't Millie be the ADULT and talk to Blossomfall FIRST?
I don't really remember what time frame the above scene took place, but it also unnerves me. Blossomfall isn't the one who confronts her mother about the injury. She didn't want to take her mother's "attention". Hazeltail has to be the one who calls her and tells her "Hey, I think your daughter's sick." Millie then waves her of in a very "I DON'T GIVE A SHIT" way and says "What? She's fine. I have to go check on Briarlight." Really? Briarlight can live a five minutes without your attention. What ticks me off is that Millie doesn't even take a second to walk over and ask what's wrong.
tbh, I would like Millie a lot more if the Erins had included some sort of scene where she and Blossomfall console in eachother and apologize. But sadly it never happened. Afterwards, Millie just seemed indifferent to the whole situation.
I guess all of my reasons above are invalid if you play the "she was hysterical" card, but eh, those who defend Millie would have found a way to counter me anyways.
tl,dr; I have no doubt in my mind that Millie loves her kits. I know she does. She's not a terrible mother, but for the reasons above she's certainly not one of the best either. I can understand why people like her and that's totally ok! I just personally am not fond of her.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Point is, people who are allowed to love Millie have all the right to. They are allowed to defend her and admire her. Likewise, people who dislike Millie are entitled to their opinion and are allowed to express why.
What is not ok is when you get disrespectful and personal about it. Do not insult someone personally because of their preference or dislike for a character. Do not wish death upon them. Do not get overly passionate about trying to change someone's mind about a character. Do not get butthurt over FICTIONAL CATS.
I'm actually thinking about closing the comments on the old drawing. I've looked through them the other day and it's a bit of a mess. x'D
Feel free to leave your opinions, but please be tasteful and respectful. 'preciate it.
aa well i wasted 45 minutes typing that and now im tired. sorry if there are grammar/spelling mistakes anywhere i will proofread later.
g'day.

Amazing comment about Millie. I really think the Millie haters and likers should just be respectful to each other and just stop fighting and keep their opinions to themselves(all I just want is peace guys.) Still if I should express MY opinion, Millie was way nicer than Rainflower. Rainflower abandoned her own son because he was defaced but Millie still cares, only too much and thus abandoning TWO of her children. I think Blossomfall fully has the right to be jealous, I mean what do these people know about being LITERALLY neglected and unwanted by their mum? Personally if I was Blossomfall I would have at least got Millie's attention by actually waving her in the face with my tail or something, don't care if she is Blossomfall's mum. She already lost the right to it when she started treating Blossomfall and Bumblestripe as if they were invisible. And Millie did say what Blossomfall did was irresponsible- hey Millie! Look who's talking. BUT is Millie ALL bad? Not really. I'm actually not sure if we even have the right to call her evil. 'Evil' is a strong word and we should all be careful of how we use it. Yes, Millie neglected Blossomfall and she made her jealous. But is that the reason of why we should call her evil? Not really. She didn't leave Briarlight when she got injured. That's something we all should learn from. People make mistakes; why not cats? I don't HATE Millie. I just think she should give some attention to her other kits. Sure, I'm fully aware that she whines a lot about Briarlight and can't go five minutes without checking on her, but she's just worried that she might lose Briarlight. Yes, Frostfur's a great mum, even if she got two of her kids hurt and scarred, she still cares for her other kids. That's a quality all should learn- and a quality that Millie also should learn. But cats all have different personalities- and endurance too. Millie has a lot of good qualities, she had to adjust to forest life and deal with her pain of separating from her Twolegs and all, but she dealt with them all. She's a headstrong cat and we all know that- but she was greatly shaken when Briarlight got hurt. She already nearly lost Briarlight when she was a kit; she was worried that she would lose her then and now, still. She's worried that she'll lose her any day. And she might, it's a possibility. All mums are worried if their kids are hurt or so, and they fuss over them sometimes to the extent of the kid's siblings feeling jealous. And if the kid was paralyzed? Well they would fuss even more. I get why Millie behaved like that.
I'm SO sorry; it was a long rant and I didn't mean to do so. so tl,dr; I can't say I like Millie. But we all make mistakes and Millie isn't all bad. I've seen worse in parents, even if we're only talking Warriors. *cough* Rainflower *cough* And even if we like/hate Millie, why do we have to express our opinions like, so strongly? This is the point. Why do we have to fight over a single character that we love or hate? I've went through this, trust me. I hate to say these sort of things like "I know how it feels like" but still guys. We all think differently and that's the 'flower' of mankind. We're all different. Why can't we just embrace it and just keep our heads cool? We can't make the world think like us and we never will. And we are all glad that we can't, no? Some of us hate Millie, some of us don't. So what? Why do we express our opinions strongly like above? We know that we wouldn't change anything, and it will only trigger a fire of fight. We can all express it in a better way. And why do we have to get all hotheaded and mad at all those people that don't have the same opinion as ours? It's nothing important.
Sorry Millie likers- and haters alike. It's my own opinion and I'm telling you, I'm perfectly respectful of yours, too, whichever side you're on. It doesn't matter if you hate or like Millie; can't we all just get along..?

nice! Do you like any other book series with Warriors? because I've always thought Warriors kinda resembled Harry Potter! Fireheart and Graystripe? Harry and Ron. Spottedleaf? Cho Chang. ThunderClan? Gryffindor. RiverClan? Ravenclaw. WindClan? Hufflepuff. ShadowClan? Slytherin. Sandstorm? I'll say Ginny Weasley. Or maybe Hermione. I'm not sure. But Luna can be Skywatcher, Longtail can be Snape, Voldemort and his Death Eaters being the Dark Forest. Percy Weasley can be Hollyleaf, Bluestar can be McGonagall, Yellowfang can be Madam Pomfrey, Neville can be Ravenpaw, Trelawney can be Goosefeather, Hagrid can be Tallstar. Draco Malfoy can be Darkstripe, Dustpelt being Dean Thomas, Filch being Smallear, The Dursleys and the muggles being the kittypets, Squibs being loners. And Cloudpaw can be Colin Creevey.
Finally, Tigerstar can be Bellatrix and Peter Pettigrew can be Sol.

Wow, never thought about that. Maybe Warriors does resemble Harry Potter. You have s creative mind.
And I love the Omen of the Stars series. It was the first book series I read although I was completely when the past events were mentioned. Like Hollyleaf, the three, Leafpool and Squrrielflight, Tigerheart, Dovewing's power. I read the 4th book first. The library didn't really have that much warriors in my town so I have to go the another one in another town

Awww... don't you hate it when that happens When your local library doesn't have your favorite series? I flipped when I thought my school library didn't have Harry Potter, then calmed down again when I found the series. I'm not happy with it though, there are only 3 books and not the whole series!
And thank you for saying that I have a creative mind!!
Also, my favorite series in the Warriors saga is the Prophecies Begin arc, where all the characters were cute and fun.

''When Hazeltail reports to Millie that Blossomfall had been limping recently, Millie, seeming not to care, brushes it off and returns her attention to Briarlight. When Blossomfall and Ivypool return from their adventure in the tunnel, Whitewing fusses over Ivypool, saying that she does not want to lose another kit out of her sight, then calls Millie over to see her daughter. Almost as soon as Millie approaches Blossomfall, she snaps at her, telling her that she could have been hunting and remarking that Briarlight would give anything to feed her Clan. Brackenfur tells Millie that they returned, and that's the only thing that matters, but Millie snarls at him. This leads to Blossomfall feeling neglected, to the point that she is easily lured into the Dark Forest where she feels as if she gets more attention''

Lovely picture :3
And I agree with you completely. I never really thought that Blossomfall was being a "brat" or seeking unnecessary attention, because if my mother neglected me and catered to one of my brothers like he was going to die if she didn't check on him every five minutes, I'd feel a bit jealous, and feel guilty about it later. And people have different personalities/opinions. (Aimed at the people who compare Blossom to Bumble and people who scream at people with different opinions to die.)
Again, awesome picture C:

I don't think she was that bratty in the tunnels. (though it was immature to go in there, when it was clearly very dangerous) But she was a brat as an apprentice. Remember her warrior assessment? When Ivypaw was assigned to help her, Blossompaw justs complains that Ivypaw is useless and a bad hunter. She asks for Dovepaw, saying she was a much better hunter. When she couldn't have Dovepaw, Blossomfall gets angry and refuses to let Ivypaw help, claiming "she'd only be in the way". When Ivypaw does catch prey, Blossompaw accuses her of showing off. Obviously this didn't raise Ivypaw's self-esteem. Blossomfall didn't directly cause Ivypool to join the DF, but she didn't make it harder for Hawkfrost either.
I think it would actually be better if Blossomfall actually talked to Millie. Not to the point where it would be considered "bratty", but maybe just help Millie care for Briarlight, or share prey with Millie, etc. All this drama wouldn't even happen if Briarlight simply asked Millie to stop smothering her, or Blossomfall told Millie she was feeling neglected.

I wasn't really thinking of when she was an apprentice, but now I remember. I agree, she was a brat to Ivypaw as an apprentice, but still, didn't they become friends later, I think? I'm not entirely sure, but you are right. I'm not saying you're wrong, just mentioning that (I believe) Blossomfall grew out of it.
And yeah, if she or Briarlight had just talked to Millie, the drama would've smoothed out.

Yes, Blossomfall grew up, Vicky believes Millie and Blossomfall have made amends a long time ago. I like Blossomfall after Omen of the Stars much better. She even defended Briarlight.
