************ UPDATE*******************

Wow, a DD? Thank you so much AngelYarn for suggesting and to Elandria for featuring And thank you everyone for your kind and in some cases, not so kind words

..........................................

Here is the long awaited Art Nouveau Tutorial for my artwork Iris that has taken me almost a good week to do Sorry guys, there won't be many tutorials, they are a lot of work and makes me appreciate all the artists who donate their time and effort to do these so much more!

Ok before you start, all stock images in the tutorial is from CAStock and from almudena-stock if you want to get the exact ones. Here are the thumbs for them:

Also this is a tutorial that assumes that you have some basic knowledge of Photoshop and how it works, and how to work in layers. I assume you have some vague concept at least about how to cut things out and how to use masks. If you don't know how to do any of these things, you need to find some beginner tutorials in Photoshop before you start or you'll get lost pretty easy.

I used Photoshop CS5, but any photoshop version should be able to do most of the commands in this tutorial.

If you come across something that is very unclear or misspelled, please inform me and i'll try to correct it.

Thank you to for the lovely border I used in the design of the tutorial itself, and many thanks to for the beautiful model I used.

Hope you enjoy!!

Oh, and IF you make an artwork pretty much identical to the one in this tutorial (meaning using the stock i did for the tut) you need to credit me in the description of it when you upload it. If you make an art nouveau piece with completely different stock, look and feel you don't have to credit unless you want to. And don't forget to ALWAYS credit the stock owners you used and follow their individual rules!

I actually used to think the same way as you but eventually i realised that not everybody wants the same thing from art. You and me might want similar things (to be able to draw anatomy correctly, to be able to use color correctly and create beautiful pictures just from our own hand/minds etc etc), but other people may only, for example, have a strong interest in depicting scenes from their minds, and might desire to show them realistically as possibly (photo manipulation).
Me and you hold things like skill in many areas of drawing in high regard because it's what we want to be able to do but not everyone wants that. i hope at some point you can come to understand
references are a whole different matter because they are really important if you want to learn (eg i would have no idea how to draw a car properly if i didn't reference one, and i wouldn't learn anything from just blindly trying to)
And thankyou for the compliment on my art. I've been trying to use reference for mostly everything i do lately and it's really helped me improve faster.

You misunderstood, I'm not saying that everyone should think like me, I understand that people have different views about art, I simply stated mine.

oh that's not what i was implying at all.

Well you wrote "Me and you hold things like skill in many areas of drawing in high regard because it's what we want to be able to do but not everyone wants that. i hope at some point you can come to understand", so yeah you kinda did.

I'm talking about as digital artists who draw/paint. Since your problem with this art is that you said: a picture already has color, anatomy, values, poses etc , which is implying that to not "cheat" you need to be able to apply those things yourself. So therefore, that is something that you value as an artist.
I really don't want to argue with you about it, i always regret even bothering when it gets to the stage that we have to be quoting each other on stuff we said half an hour ago.
It's easy for us to go around telling people what they should and shouldn't do with their art but maybe it just comes down to worrying about yourself.

hahahaha you still don't get it, I'm not telling people what they should or should not do, I was giving my personal opinion. This conversation is getting really boring since you don't seem to get my point, even though I wrote it like 3 or 4 times. Seems like you're just arguing for the sake of arguing, you just changed the subject after you contradicted yourself. So please don't reply, because I won't.

Actually i'd prefer if you don't reply but i feel like that i should say, the reason i ignored your "opinion" comment is that i was trying to have a reasonable debate with you without being rude. The only response i can possibly give to that is that everyone who says something rude and gets into an argument always falls back on the "my opinion" rubbish.
You are entitled to your opinion of course but that doesn't mean it excuses you from posting rude and aggravating comments on things that are clearly intended to offend people.

MissPinks In reply to aishii-trash [2013-10-19 07:34:22 +0000 UTC]

Oh and in case you took that last response wrong, - there is nothing wrong with not being a varied artist of course, draw what you want- , what i mean for example is that you clearly favor cute heavily stylised anime characters with either transparent or abstract backgrounds and simple colouring. In no way would you require reference for any of that, whereas an artist who draws realistic characters and backgrounds would.

MissPinks In reply to aishii-trash [2013-10-19 07:24:18 +0000 UTC]

I suppose that's easy to say as your art isn't very varied so you probably haven't discovered the value of referencing yet.

JWatkinsArt In reply to VirgoGarg [2013-10-17 16:57:50 +0000 UTC]

Actually, you can get a free outdated version on the website now. It's a legitimate version (not pirated, it's official), it's just an older one. There really aren't many differences between that one and the newer one, save for a few brushes you won't be able to download.
Everything that is being done in this tutorial can be done on that version
