Love this - But can this 'effect' be used on stock images of people as such here on a DAZ or Poser model and get the same effect? I know these Poser type models are relatively smoothed out already, but been wanting to learn that 'painterly effect' to use on my model (human, for clarity purposes) photographs... THANKS!!

It is for both photos and poser models/daz models.

The tutorial was actually done on a poser render - not a photo

Well thank you very much... I'm wondering... I want to obtain this tutorial, but making sure it's what I'm aiming for. I've seen where they color pick and paint right onto the skin... but I'm looking for techniques that are similar to these, if I may:

Does your tut cover this technique? It appears to be the same...

I use a couple techniques, I use a smoothing technique and I also add paint yes.

I purchased this product at Renderosity...it's wonderful thank you! I was wondering though if you had the .png files for the brushes? I don't use Photoshop ...I use Paint Shop Pro 8....and would love to incorporate them into my psp. Thanks again for this lovely tutorial...I have definately learned a few new things!

I love that tutorial! This is what I made from it: [link]

Since you make so fantastic backgrounds too, it would be cool to have another tutorial about painting backgrounds, trees, grass, etc. I'm a beginner in this and would like to learn more of that. Anyway, keep up the fantastic work!!

nice job! thow the "before" in my opinion is much better... she looks from the "pirates of the carribean"
maybe it's cause i like drawings more than 3D...

cosmosue In reply to violetspirit [2011-04-17 19:41:56 +0000 UTC]

The original is a straight 3D render lol

the one of the right shows how to make it appear more like a drawing or a painting... because many 3D artists would love to know how to do that, well many photomanip artists as well, Ive been asked for years how to do it.

Believe me, I understand. I want to be a writer, but I'm so afraid to become one because I might not like writing if it becomes my career. LOL.
