I was looking through my scraps and saw this very old portrait I did back in 2002. It made me smile, and laugh, because A) it's funny to see how I started and B) it looks so terribly bad. I remember, when I finished my first portrait, I was so proud of myself!I had this crazy idea of getting all my best portraits of each year and put them next to each other.
Hmm, I think I improved my skills just a little, don't you think?...
I had several periods
2002 - the 'I like to draw stuff from magazines' period
2003 - the 'Lord of the Rings rox my sox' period
2004 - the 'Johnny Depp is so cool' period
2005 - the 'random actors and actresses' period
2006 - the 'I think I really do like Final Fantasy' period
2007 - the 'and House kicks ass as well' period
So people, stop saying you won't become as good as I am these days. When I started, my stuff looked really bad, too!

That's great, your drawings really inspire me to get my skills better, I'm nearly 18 and i am as good as you were when you were 15, oh well i can only keep practicing.

wow, i have been looking through your gallery, and i normally don't comment on people (i just made an account so i can browse peoples art and techniques), but i just couldln't resist.
its like i really wanna like you cause your art is so fabulous. but seriously, you seem soooo.... cocky. like all "you'lll be as good as me someday" and blah blah blah. I mean sure, you have definetely improved, but its really hard to like someone when they know their good and they flaunt it.
*im not trying to start an arguement, i just wanted to point that out, other than that, i really do like your pics, i normally only draw animals, but i am trying to start people, and i'm using your drawings as guidelines.

I see what you mean to some degree, but it is absolutely not a bad thing to have confidence in your skills, especially if you've devoted years upon years of your life into developing your art into something you can be proud of.
It's really not fair to the artist (especially one of this caliber) to force them to always make comments as if they're not great when...I mean let's face it. :| Anyone with EYES can see that Cataclysm is amazing. It'd be bad if "amazing" was a compliment, but a this point it's just the plain truth. xD
Having a big head is one thing, but the comments I've seen from this artist haven't been arrogant at all.

You give me the idea to search my first portrait... HAHA! they're so ugly!!! I did it when I was 12, now I'm 15 and I made a lot of progress. I'm sad I can't find my Yuna serie ^^ I started this when I was so young, and I remember that they were so ugly XD
Even this years I made a lot of progress. When I look at my NaminΓ© (I did it at march 2009) and my Kairi (august 2009)... NaminΓ© is pitiful XD
Anyway, It's very funny to see how people was at their beginnig, and it's very impressive how you were... bad at your XD Even if you are awesome today, i'm sure at every drawing that you do, you make progress.

you have just made me feel soooooo much better!! i was looking through your gallery...(crimefish's too which is also amazing) and i thought 'omg i'll never be able to draw like this'. And then i stumbled across this and it just made me think ' hey if i just keep practicing maybe i will be able to draw like this someday!!....well hopefully...i'm only 17 so i can practice plenty...
oh and by the way.....i love supernatural too!! and all the fanart you do...can't wait for season 5!!

I really have to thank you for this, because you are such an amazing artist and sometimes it's discouraging to try a new art form and feel that you can never compare to seasoned artists. It's always good to hear the words "You'll get there!" But even better to see the progress of someone who has become great!
