Description
I was looking through my scraps and saw this very old portrait I did back in 2002. It made me smile, and laugh, because A) it's funny to see how I started and B) it looks so terribly bad. I remember, when I finished my first portrait, I was so proud of myself!I had this crazy idea of getting all my best portraits of each year and put them next to each other.
Hmm, I think I improved my skills just a little, don't you think?...
I had several periods
2002 - the 'I like to draw stuff from magazines' period
2003 - the 'Lord of the Rings rox my sox' period
2004 - the 'Johnny Depp is so cool' period
2005 - the 'random actors and actresses' period
2006 - the 'I think I really do like Final Fantasy' period
2007 - the 'and House kicks ass as well' period
So people, stop saying you won't become as good as I am these days. When I started, my stuff looked really bad, too!
Have fun watching and... keep up the good work!

Gosh O-O That's amazing! I have 14 years now, and I'm just starting, and this kind of thing really makes me feel like I have a chance xD
I'm sending this image to my friends and they don't believe that the last one is a drawing. Everyone thinks it's a photo!
One of them asked "Is she famous?!". I aswered "I don't know, probably not. She's SOOO good, better than a LOT of people, but isn't world's famous...That's really ironic, huh?"
Well, kisses and good luck!

Thats really amazing. Maybe this kick my ass up 'cause i think i can't draw anything good... Your work is amazing! But tell me - how many hours per day, days per week and weeks per year you are spending with drawning? Or had you spend to become so good? Would be intresting to know this. But also you have to be talented!

This is absolutely amazing! It's always so interesting to compare your work over the years and see just how much you've improved. You've definitely improved a great deal in just five years, that's for sure! I only wish I would have drawn more when I was in highschool - but this definitely inspires me to pick up my pencils again and give it a go!
Thank you for sharing this! <3

It's so cool to look through all of them and look at the ways you've changed or improved! I've been trying to start on drawing more realistic people for a while, but I don't know where to start! I know I'd have to pray or something to get this good, but do you have any suggestions?
By the way, great job on the House one.

Lol, i remember right when I decided to improve on drawing. I was so proud and went around showing my friends. The other day (a year later) i found some old drawings, blushed crumpled them and hid them in the bottom of my trashcan. I'm so embarrassed at the thought that I was showing people pathetic misshapen faces. XD
Ey, practice makes perfect.

I love all your artwork because they are probably the most amazing pencil artwork I've seen and well I love FF7 and you did pictures from it
This is incredibly inspiring though cause its really cool to see that -you- actually started out that way and worked your way up to this.
I doubt I'll ever get as good and drawings not my main thing by any means but still, thanks for this cause it gives me some hope in my drawings getting better lol.
Peace
keep up the awesome work.

very nice, you can see how much you improved from when you were 15 to when you were 16; it's amazing how good you got in such a relatively short time. I love looking at my old drawings, so I can say "Wow, I don't suck that much anymore, and my guys look less like women now, it makes me happy."

Isn't it amazing how time sort of fly's by while you do your portraits, then you look back and your like OMG!
It makes me realise how long it really takes too do something like this, too many people give up and live too regret it.
Do you think drawing is something you would forget if you stop drawing completely for 5 years, or you would still have "it"?
Such great improvement

Cataclysm-X In reply to Stapic [2008-04-05 21:43:36 +0000 UTC]
Nope I think you'll still be able to draw the same.
The reason why I think so is that back in 2004 I didn't draw a lot (just a couple of drawings in an entire year).
And at all of a sudden my skills were so much better when I drew a new picture in 2005 (the Jessica Alba one).
In 2003 I drew a LOT (about 3 drawings a day) and they all were of the same quality, to worse lol.
It's just that... once you trained your eye for details, it will hardly go away. Maybe it's different for everyone else, but that's how I experienced it...

Thank you so much for this deviation
I've had a really bad day in school today (I study 3D-graphic art) ,I didn't succeed in anything I tried to draw and my sketches looked so hopeless.
This deviation of yours once again proved that great results can be reached with lots of practicing. This portfolio really made my day better

Even your worst looks considerably better than anything I have ever done... It's why I prefer cameras and/or 3D software to trying to draw.
Just the jump in quality from when you were 14 to 15 looks pretty significant to me. Just out of curiousity, how many hours per day drawing do you think you have put in on the average, during the time period displayed above?
