Description
(Changed typos and some other things)Tutorial lucky number 13: From Sketch to Group Image
This tutorial doesn't necessarily explain how to draw a group image. It also explains the process of a drawing itself. It's basically a better version of my Drawing Progress tutorial.
~~~~~~~~~~
What to say. This was made with all the work in progress scans of my [link] Supernatural drawing which I made for a while ago. I reallyreallyreallyreally like that drawing so I wanted to write a tutorial about it too.
Another reason why I'm posting this is to show *EatToast my silly doodles.
From now on whenever I think or see or hear about Supernatural, I think I will forever think of you.
I have the pictures up on Facebook actually now. They're not much but I'll give you the link in a note.
could you do a tutorial for ears?
or possibly also for hands, hands in action, and feet?
this is remarkable, though, and as a drawing artist, I certainly agree with all the techniques. My biggest difficulty has always been darkening or lightening too much later in the drawing!
I'm so glad you posted this. You know what I realised, the first time I looked at the drawing? I can see, in places, where you've written things you later drew over. And I really like that about it. I can only see it if I look closely and tilt it to the light, but it reminds me of taking x-rays of classical paintings and seeing the sketches and stuff underneath.
Anyway. Plus, you know, it's always amazing to see the process of a blank sheet of paper turning into a drawing. It feels like you're witnessing a wonderful secret.
Cataclysm-X In reply to Crimefish [2009-07-30 13:01:34 +0000 UTC]
You did?? And I thought I was careful with scribbling the little doodles. Oh well... I'm glad they're still appreciated :D
Thank you so much. I feel exactly the same about the drawings of others like your work. I hope you found out where I put your name in the drawing. If anyone ever doubts it was really made for you, you could always show them your name is drawn somewhere into this sketch. C:
I hope you're doing okay. I kinda admit I miss you hanging around deviantART. I'm always looking forward reading your comments.
Ah, that is good that you actually think about the light source.
It's because there are some people who take different reference pictures, and copy them from exact same tone, making the drawings look really funny. Some do not think of this, and they just copy exact from each different source that likely have different light source.
Cataclysm-X In reply to Crystal-LJ [2009-07-30 13:04:34 +0000 UTC]
yeah I know, I kind of had the same problem with my Final Fantasy group image. So ever since I'm paying attention to the light sources too
Thanks!
